Dear Mr. President

Dear Mr. President,

again I write you over my concern for the accelerated direction towards war between Iran and America that I observe. The ashes are not even cold in Iraq and already the military industrial complex is looking for a new war. The act of cutting off Iran from its oil revenue is an act of war and punishing any nation who buys their petroleum is bullying. Why would you want to anger the Chinese who buy most of their oil from Iran and who buy our debt? If they stopped financing our debt our economy would collapse. It is naive to think that sanctions will weaken the regime, they will only tighten its grip and make the Iranian people suffer more. It is naive and wicked of our congressmen to want the Iranian people to suffer so much that they will overthrow their government by what throwing themselves unarmed on the bayonettes of a million revolutionary guards and a million Basiji thugs? What makes you think they will not associate their suffering with US sanctions?

I was opposed to the two Bush wars in response to 911 that you were saddled with. They created massive debt and instability and untold suffering and death which continues. The tension between Iran and Israel is a result of removing the buffering Saddam between them so now they are vying over hegemony of the region. Instead of blindly following the hawks in Israel's lead you should lead by brokering peace between Iran and Israel. There are Iranian Jews in Israel and ancient Jews in Iran. Iran has oil and gas Israel needs and Israel has nuclear power generating technology Iran needs. It is a marriage made in heaven...you have to think outside the box.

While I am at it Bush "War on Terrorism" quickly became a war on dissidence. His Patriot Act has damaged our civil liberties. He allowed torture of war prisoners so who are we to criticize the IRI. We have lost our moral authority and now rule only by might. You opted to perpetuate the exception of Habeus Corpus for US citizens that Bush started even when the Senate tried to remove that language. Are you determined to turn this nation into a dictatorship? And your use of drones is probably against the Geneva Convention delivering execution to intended and unintended victims guilty by proximity without right to fair trial.

I see no candidate I would vote for in the next election except one who isn't running but always speaks the truth and that is Dennis Kucunich. If you truely wanted to stop a war with Iran then broker a win win diplomatic solution that leaves Iran's national sovereignty and dignity intact. Neither side is without sin. The propoganda machine can convince Americans that we are in the business of exporting democracy but if that were the case why was there a revolution in Iran against the Shah and why is the Arab Spring throwing out all the dictators we installed? Why is it that every nation with substantial resources we want who happened to have a nationalist leader that refuses to become a US vassal state is branded as the enemy? If we won't allow other nations to have sovereignty and democracy then why not stop all the lying and admit that we are imperialists that rule by might with no moral authority from God or anyone else at least that would be honest.

Brian,

We feel your pain but when you say:

"I see no candidate I would vote for in the next election"

wouldn't it help the Republican War Machine?

Thanks for your honest approach for expressing your viewpoint.

bushtheliberator

don't worry, dear Iranians

by bushtheliberator on

The Iran policy of the USA will NOT be led by the Blame America First Left, Dennis Kucunic, or Ron Paul.......Brian aka Rasool suggests we can all just get along fine, if Obama would just be the miraculous peace maker as promised. We pause here to snicker at all those who voted for O-Bambi. and now complain about O-Bush !

But rest assured,Dear Iranians, that US Iran policy recognizes the IRI as #2 in the Axis of Evil...AND that only regime change offers  improvement in US/Iran relations.

The Great Hegemon will not change this basic policy..

Peace between Iran and Israel: great!

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

I have advocated peace between two nations for a very long period. But all that I hear from some is "Palestine" from IRI and its supporters. If Iran is to have peace with Israel it needs to have a regime that puts Iran first.

Is IRI willing to put aside its obsession with Palestine? In addition I do not agree that Iran has a "nationalist" leader. You got to be kidding me. The IRI is anything but nationalist.

It is sad to see how this nation thrives on war.

War profiteering should be a crime and punishable under ICC justice

'Hambastegi' is the main key to victory

Internment camps

by Brian Appleton on

The other day I was at a Christmas party at the office of one of my clients and one of his employees a young Iranian American engineer and his sister told me that they were worried that if America made war on Iran that they might put Iranian Americans into internment camps like they did to the Japanese Americans during WWII. I didn't know what to say...

When I visited Iran in 2008, people there kept asking me if America was going to bomb Iran. I didn't know what to say except it made me feel terrible...
