Facebook Censorship Reported to CIM - censorship can be self-defeating

CIM received a complaint that a protest concerning the Armenian Genocide was removed from Facebook (the photo we received is above).  The point of free speech is not whether you have a personal opinion about the Armenian Genocide (or any given issue); the point of free speech is that everyone should be allowed to freely express their opinions.

What did Facebook's censorship accomplish?

Facebook had to pay someone to waste their life to remove the graphic and the nation of Turkey looks foolish and petty for having its people report the graphic.  Additionally, here we are discussing the same content as an illustrative example, as many other websites likely are, which means the censored graphic is reaching a wider audience than originally intended because it was censored.

Lessons for Iranian.com.

These types of lessons are not limited to Facebook.  If one runs an internet search, it is clear that individuals banned from Iranian.com have similarly taken to writing protest blogs elsewhere.  Two examples:

"Iranian.com is shameful to Iranians."

"Iranian.com is an anti-Iranian propaganda website."

Censorship is self defeating.
