Most religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions, and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell.
With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.
This gives two possibilities:
1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.
2. If Hell is expanding a t a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which do you think it is?

Ari jon...Speaking of Climate Change
by Cost-of-Progress on Fri Oct 30, 2009 06:49 AM PDTOK, since you brought up the global warming subject, I'll interject here with my 2 cents:
Often, when I talk to my right wing nutcase friends and co-workers, they point out that this is a natural cycle of earth and that she goes through these cycles on a regular basis. I have no problem with that scientific explanation and in fact agree with it. I do, however, point out a few issues of my own, but they fall short of a reply and often resort to reciting versus from the Bible (kidding). Here are the points I make:
1. Most of these folks are very religious (christians) - These very folks believe that Earth was created by his magesty, God, 5769 years ago (as noted in Bible).
2. These very people as I noted, claim the changing of earth's climate to be attributed to natural cycles - A clear contradiction, wouldn't you agree?
3. These very people give me a hostile look when I tell them that while the Natural Cycle argument is a powerful and true argument, it is human activity (pollution really) in the last 100 years that has accelerated this cycle by at least 100 fold!
I am a technical professional myself and know what we (humans) are doing to this planet.
Almost all so called conservatives in the US sing the same tune when it comes to climate change. This is true regardless of their creed and background (blue collar, educated, etc.) - I am very puzzled by this.
Regards,
CoP

by KouroshS on Thu Oct 29, 2009 08:45 AM PDTThis blog was about having fun with Ms. banyan? Maaaaaaaan. You got me real good:(
On a Much much more serious note, I have seen reports that With the new Ventilation system installed in hell, Average temps. stay around 65 F and the expansion rate and it is impact on the temperature, Granted its ever increasing volume (especially after this blog come to god's attention), will be minimal.
Now who wants ice cream?
Fun it is then

A Scientific Proof of Hell
A thermodynamics professor had written a take home exam for his graduate students. It had one question:
"Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Support your answer with a proof."
Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:
First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So, we need to know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they are leaving.
I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.
As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.
Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand as souls are added. This gives two possibilities.
#1 If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.
#2 Of course, if Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it?
If we accept the postulate given to me by Ms. Therese Banyan during my Freshman year, "That it will be a cold night in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then #2 cannot be true, and so Hell is exothermic.
The student got the only A.

Religion and hell
by Kamran Ramyar on Tue Oct 27, 2009 04:53 PM PDTThis passage, although short, is very sweet and direct to the point in that it captures the whole picture....that is RELIGION EQUATES STUPIDITY
I think neither
by Multiple Personality Disorder on Tue Oct 27, 2009 02:14 PM PDTThere was a guy, I don’t remember who till I dig it up, he was trying to prove the existence of soul, so he devised this experiment to gather data, by weighing dying people before their death and after. So after he did this for a while he concluded that there was a difference in weight, the difference being the weight of soul when it departures the body. His quest was scientific, however his data was faulty. After further experiments by others it turned out that there was no detectable difference in weight. Another word, assuming there is a soul, this soul does not have a mass, therefore it does not have a volume, and therefore it will not have any effect on the increase or decrease of the volume of hell. Beside, who the hell said hell is a closed system! As far as I’m concerned hell is an infinitely large place, therefore it can house all the sinners of this universe for eternity, and beyond.
