Soap Opera Iranian Opposition Groups & Satellite TV Channels

I am curious why anybody watches Soap Operas.
The same question could no doubt be asked about most Iranian Opposition groups and satellite TV channels, TV shows and other drama-induced forms of so-called entertainment. What draws people to spend their Time & Money this way?
P.S. It has been 30 years since these So called Iranian opposition Televisions are in operation.
