Ben Affleck Directs 'Argo' in McLean, VA :

Behind the scenes footage of Ben Affleck directing his co-star Taylor Schilling in 'Argo' the upcoming Cold War spy thriller about the Iranian hostage crises.

Plot:

As the Iranian revolution reaches a boiling point, a CIA 'exfiltration' specialist concocts a risky plan to free six Americans who have found shelter at the home of the Canadian ambassador.

About the Film :

Based on a Wired magazine article titled How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran, the project is a political thriller with elements ofwry humour, according to the Hollywood Reporter. It will portray an elaborate attempt by US and Canadian operatives to rescue six American diplomats who were trapped in the occupied US embassy following the fall of the Shah in 1979.

The US citizens were successfully extracted after the CIA concocted a scenario in which they were members of a Hollywood film crew scouting for a movie titled Argo. With help from a disguise expert, the rescue was a success and the diplomats were able to leave the country. Movie designs and drawings developed for a real project by legendary comic artist Jack Kirby, co-creator of Captain America and The X-Men, were used by the CIA to convince Iranians that the film really did exist. Chris Terrio has adapted Joshuah Bearman's 2007 article on the subject.

Ben Affleck's high school

by Anahid Hojjati on

When I visited Boston few weeks ago, I took the train to Cambridge to visit Harvard. After walking around for a while, I sat down on a bench near few buildings. One was Cambridge's public library and the other one next to it was "Rindge and Latin School". I thought Rindge and Latin school was part of Harvad but later I found out that it was the high school that Ben Affleck used to go. It must have been nice for him going to a high school so close to Harvard.
