HONORARY PARISIAN: Shirin Ebadi Bestowed Honorary Citizenship of Paris (June 10th, 2010)

Socialist Mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoe bestowed the diploma of honorary citizen of Paris to Iran's 2003 Nobel Peace Prize at L'hotel de Paris.

The Mayor paid tribute to "Mrs. Ebadi's dedication to the struggle of Democratic Ideals and serving as a role model to millions of Iranians in their struggle for freedom and democracy as well as to other people in the world." Delanoe also expressed the support and solidarity of the People of Paris for the people of Iran as he handed the diploma to the Iranian lawyer.

Other former prestigious recipients of this diploma include former Empress of Iran Shahbanou Farah Pahlavi, South African leader Nelson Mandela, Former Russian President Michael Gorbatchev and Poland's Solidarity Leader and President Lech Walesa.
