British Historian David Starkey's "Last Word" talk show with Iranian communist and human rights activist Maryam Namazie, journalists Mathew Parris and Johann Hari, discussing whether Iran should be bombed (of course not!) and the relevance or not of the monarchy in our modern age.
Hosted by the Ever Witty and politically incorrect David Starkey. This debate took place in 2006 but the issues debated seem of equal concern today. You Be the Judge ...

Maryam Namazie was quite a lousy interviewee
by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on Thu Dec 01, 2011 03:07 PM PSTShe needed to explain what the policy of the west is, how it is in love with islam in govt and to stop supporting such an approach. She called the late shah a dictator, that lie has less and less buyers now that people are using dictionaries to learn the actual definitions of words. Of course he was not elected, but the way ignoramuses sloppiliy define a dictator is someone who leads a system that does not have elections every few years and in which leaders constantly change. Such systems have given humanity its worst dictators is a fact they over look as is the fact the late shah does't have a single case of using absolute power.
Explaining Iranian culture to Iranians is such a necessity in this age.
