The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are hugely saddened over the "grotesque and unjustifiable invasion of privacy" by a magazine which published topless photos of Kate, a royal spokesman says. (Source: persianrealm.com)
French publication Closer printed the pictures of the duchess, taken during their private holiday in France. The Photos available online appear amidst a Crucial First State visit to Asia including stops in Singapour and Malaysia where the Royal Couple visited a Mosque (See Related BBC News)

Topless pictures of Kate Middleton soon to be released No privacy:
A victim of press intrusion says the Duchess of Cambridge was "inviting photographs" when she chose to sunbathe topless while on holiday with her husband.
Analysis: Are French privacy laws really strict? By Christian Fraser (bbc) France has a strict privacy law that makes it a criminal offence to publish information on a person's private life without the express permission of the person concerned.
In France they will tell you their laws are much tighter than they are in the UK - but it's only half of the truth.
While the French are sniffy about the tabloid culture in Britain, many celebrity magazines have been publishing these kind of pictures for years. France is the home of one of the oldest celebrity magazines in the world - Paris Match.
But these days there are raunchier titles, like Closer, Public and Voici, who unashamedly indulge in the celebrity gossip. And they budget for the legal payouts which in this case are seemingly inevitable.
A few years ago Closer was sued for invasion of privacy by Jenifer Bartoli, a well-known pop singer who featured on Star Academy.
As part of its punishment half of the magazine's front cover was blanked white, with the facts of the judgement printed in black. But for editors the fine is worth the risk.
And no doubt this latest edition of Closer magazine will sell out, there will be a bigger print run, a legal tussle to follow - but the end result is a huge profit and for Closer some priceless publicity.
Closer's editor, Laurence Pieau, recently said that each month three out of every four covers wil feature stars from the US because it carries less risk.
"It is very hard here in France," he said. "The privacy law is very restrictive but our readers are interested in what people are doing, how they dress, how they do their make-up.
"They do not want to automatically trash them, but they like to know how they are living their lives. And that is what we like to show."

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge has checked into the hospital because of severe case of morning sickness associated with her just-announced pregnancy.
The stork tells me that severe morning sickness could mean that the Royal-Bearer could be carrying more than one future king or queen which at some point may cause a royal headache, or a new episode of the Prince and the Pauper!

(CNN) -- The editor of the Irish Daily Star resigned Saturday "as a result of the publication on 15 September 2012," which revealed topless photos of the duchess of Cambridge, according to a statement from the paper.
The images showed Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, sunbathing, igniting a firestorm of controversy in the British media and stern comments from Buckingham Palace.
Michael O'Kane had been suspended earlier, following the publication.
William and Kate meet trainee lawyers

They met trainee lawyers who have been helped by a scholarship established in honour of the royals at Middle Temple - one of the ancient Inns of Court in central London - where the Duke is an honorary barrister and member of the institution's governing body.
William was making his first public appearance in the UK with Kate, since the controversy over the Duchess' topless pictures broke last month.
Trainee laywer Priya Sidhaih was one of the trainee lawyers to meet the royal couple.

Danish celebrity magazine Se og Hoer has become the fifth publication to print photographs of the Duchess of Cambridge sunbathing topless.
The magazine's 16-page spread includes 14 topless shots of Prince William's wife Catherine and three where she is changing her bikini bottoms.
The pictures have been used in France, Italy, the Irish Republic and Sweden, where they were published on Wednesday.

The editor of the Irish Daily Star, Michael O'Kane, has been suspended over its publication of topless photographs of the Duchess Of Cambridge.
The Irishpaper's co-owners, Independent News and Media, confirmed that Mr O'Kane is suspended.
This is while an investigation into the use of the photos takes place.
The Irish Daily Star published the photographs on Saturday, after they had appeared in French magazine Closer.
On Monday, the Irish Justice Minister Alan Shatter said he would revisit the country's privacy bill following the Irish Daily Star's reprinting of the pictures.

Their nine-day tour has been overshadowed by a row over topless shots of the duchess published in a French magazine.
The co-owners of an Irish tabloid daily which also published the shots have condemned the decision to print.
An Italian magazine says it will be the next to print the photographs.
The royal couple are to sue French magazine Closer, for invasion of privacy.
A royal spokesman would not comment on possible action against the Italian magazine Chi other than to say that "all proportionate responses will be kept under review".
The couple spent much of Saturday at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge in Malaysia, where they were taken on a tour of the treetop canopy on a walkway suspended 26 metres above ground.
