UN concern over Barrier Reef threat (BBC, VIDEO)

A UN team has arrived in Australia to investigate possible damage to the Great Barrier Reef by the mining industry.

Fears that coal exports and oil and gas exploration would jeopardise the reef prompted the Unesco delegation's visit.

Environmentalists have urged the government to suspend mining development until a government review is completed.

Duncan Kennedy reports.

1953-28 Amordad CIA killed no one. Check the facts

by argebam on

I can not beleive how ignorant we have become after almost 60 years. In 1953 coup CIA had 5 members and use less then Million Dollars to control the Coup. CIA killed no one. Please read the history before judging. That is your knowledge about 1953 "SLoagans and wrong information fron 1979", no wonder 1979 movement ended up with Theocracy.

Wow, 34 years ago!!! Where will we be in another 34 yrs

by mannya2001 on

No doubt, some of up will be a few years under.  Others will be full of white hair.

Folks, we only have so much time left.  Make sure you live a HAPPY life.  So long as you are Happy, nothing else will matter.

Take  a look at black folks in US.  They have virtually nothing, but manage to be very cheerful, happy and love life.

You don't have to keep wishing if you could be back.  You can be back if you WANT it to be.

History...

by Ali P. on

Some of us miss 1974's Iran and the Shah, and some of us do not.

It is history, nevertheless.

Thanks, DK.

That was

Sir John Kerr (Governor-General) and Prime Minister Gough Whitlam in the first video. Less than a year after that visit by the Shah the Governor-General dimissed the left-wing Prime Minister and his government, installing a temporary minority government with Malcolm Fraser (Liberal Party), in one of the most controversial episodes in Australian political history.

How majestic

by mahmoudg on

Shows the difference in how much farther back in time we have travelled in 30 years.  We were a free and prosperous society living in the 20th century, before the country was hijacked by the murderer of all time, khomeini to transport us back to oblivion in the 6th century.  Thanks DK.

P.S. His majesty probably piloted the jet on take off himself!, also good to see clips of the late A.A. khalatbari and Hormoz Gharib

Keep beating the dead horse

by farokh2000 on

I am not sure what you gain by living in the past and if you are living in the past, why not look at 1953 and how CIA killed so many Iranians and bribed so many goons to bring the Monrachy back.

In the process, they eliminated the elected, legitimate leader of the Country, who was trying to clean up the dirt and send the British Colonial forces packing.

That was a shameful and sad period in Iran's history. They installed the corrupt Pahlavi family back so that they could keep bleeding the Country of it's resources. I guess you have forgotten that part.

You must have been on his Payroll and now miss all the fun!

The Monrachy is dead and hopefully soon, the Islamist Regime will be as well.

How about advocating a Country that could be totally free to choose?
