On the happy occasion of our Persian new year, Norooz, wejoin our compatriots in bringing greetings to all who celebrate this joyous 3000 year tradition.

On the happy occasion of our Persian new year, Norooz, I join my compatriots in bringing greetings to all who celebrate this joyous 3000 year tradition. From Iran to Uzbakistan, from Iraq to Israel, fromAfghanistan to the United States, Persians and their descendants, the world over,  will be setting their new year tables, Haft Sin, with precious mementoes of 3000 years of civilization and celebration.

As we usher in the year 1390 in our homeland, we are mindful of the tragedies of 1989.  We are mindful of the innocent lives lost and cherished lives in the cruel cages of the illegitimate Islamic regime,of dreams lost and of promises unfulfilled.

But for 1390 and beyond  we know, we believe, ourhomeland Iran's best days are ahead of her.  Days of democracy, days of peace,with the world and our neighbors, days of prosperity, far from today's sanctions and economic deprivation, days of intellectual flourishing, where allwho wish can seek an education, days of open borders, where Iranians can visit the world and the world can visit Iran, without fear.

This dark night will dawn.  A dawn more glorious and bright than any of us can imagine today.  We will not just take our country back.  We will take our country forward.

May God protect Iran's todays and tomorrows.
