I saw this film on Iranian TV before the Revolution. John Ford's Classic Bio Epic on Abraham Lincoln: Young Mr. Lincoln (1939) starring Henry Fonda in the title role Ten years in the life of Abraham Lincoln, before he became known to his nation and the world. The film highlights the major issues that shaped his moral standards for which he stood up for all his life. One being Strong belief in justice and Human Rights. Lincoln certainly would have signed the SCE Petition launched by the Brave Nazanin Afshin Jam were he alive today. Interestingly a few years later Henry Fonda was to also portray a Jury Member in the other great classic movie against Death Penalty: 12 Angry Men directed by Sydney Lumet.

The Story shows how young Lincoln moves from a Kentucky cabin to Springfield, Illinois, to begin his law practice. He defends two men accused of murder in a political brawl, suffers the death of his girlfriend Ann, courts his future wife Mary Todd, and agrees to go into politics.

Those who distrust America like Mrs. Soraya Sepahpour-Ulrich, or don't understand Hollywood like Film Critic Mr. Hamid Dabashi should ponder on these scenes before speaking nonesense about this great nation and Hollywood as a State Sponsored Propaganda Machine. I wish we had the same freedom of expression in our country Iran where not only films are censored but artists threatened to express themselves.

Below some of the scenes from this Great Classic Film on one of America's Greatest Presidents and one of the Founding Father's of Civil Rights.
