Charlie Chaplin’s final speech in the 1940 film “The Great Dictator” with Farsi subtitles, is popular on Iranian social networks at the moment. In this scene, Chaplin’s character addresses a fascist rally, while impersonating an Adolf Hitler-like leader, and denounces militarism and dictatorship"

Wonderful Movie. Adolf Stole Charlie's Mustache ... ;0)

I grew Up with WWII before learning about the Tragedies of Our Very Own Revolution.

I think it haunted me and fascinated me equally.

I think that is why I always felt that it was important to preserve our collective memory not in an attempt to glorify or exagerate but with the awarness of being as close to the truth of an era as possible.

Banalization of history by Darius KADIVAR

My Grandpa spent 4 years in the Nazi Jails as a POW ( Prisoner of War) and my Grandma was in the French Resistance.

The War broke many lives and my Grandparents marriage because of the seperation.

Whenever My Grandpa or Grandma were reminded of any WWII movie it irritated them. Except for This Movie.

My Mom had a Copy of the Movie's Script in a Book released as memorabilia for the movie when it screened in Paris. I remember reading this particular speach and the ending which is also very moving in which Chaplin's character talks to his love Paullette Goddard who is supposed to be in a Concentration Camp.

I think no one can ignore the power of this movie that forsaw one of the greatest tragedies of the 20th century while taking a humorous look at the macabre future it was to unfold a yeat later, and that is : World War II

The Film was made I believe in 1938 or 39 and the War took place a year after. It was a commercial failure ironically when released in the US.

But it became a classic. It screened in Europe only after WWII.

Hitler is said to have hated the movie after he saw it ...

And the news reached Charlie Chaplin's ears after which the great actor/director claimed that it was Hitler and not him who stole his mustache ...

That is Why I will NEVER FORGIVE Ahmadinejad for trying to confiscate another people's tragedy to other less noble purposes mainly blind nationalism and xenophobia including towards our own minorities be them Jews, Kurds, Bahai's or christians.

Ahmadinejad expresses Greed in ALL levels. That is why he and his ideas should be fought against with the utmost perseverance for it is against Humanity and Humanistic values so greatly expressed in this clip.

We should Say and repeat:

NON A LA BETE IMMONDE !

ET

PLUS JAMAIS CA ! ...
