On international labor day, May 1st 2009 in Tehran Iran, tens of workers, activists and labor leaders were arrested and taken away in vans by the security forces of the Islamic Regime. Early morning that Day Iranian female juvenile Delara Darabi was executed in the the prison yard of Rasht with no prior notice, last words or without her parents, sisters or lawyer being present:
Not even shaking head
just lack of words
speechless does not explain it
and is beyond disgust
or even vomit!
wolves are among us
...ripping our hearts
some dressed as sheep
Licking the wounds of the battle
washing the blood of my brother off my face
and burying the blue body of my sister
in a corner
observing the deceit
of those who have come to picnic:
choosing between rare, well done
flogged or suffocated...
NO!
this is beyond reasoning:
blood that keeps them red
is ours
air that they breathe
is from our longs
to the last breathe
filling up the vans
the dungeons
and the graveyards
Let the martyrs go
in peace
not even that they may
it is years past reasoning
lines are drawn
"time is now"
and this is all the time one gets
to pause in the midst of the battle
...right to express
right to assemble
right to justice
right to peace
right to ... Love
determined and strong
FREEDOM WILL COME:

It is just my personal opinion, I
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Wed May 06, 2009 10:02 AM PDTmyself don't intend to blog anything new about her for at least a few days. I feel people are drained. if you do i will definitely post on it.
Oh I know you are not saying I am the council of guardians, just wanted to say that anyway. :o)
In the scenario I gave below (and this is not to criticize anyone, just to clarify about "kindergarten" for YOU) i would've closed the thread if I were moderating it and couldn't stop the ugliness by posting on top, something like, This thread has become idrespectful to the dead. I made Delara Iranian of the Day out of respect for her. I am closing the thread. Please start your own blogs to continue your discussions there, if you wish." I have a lot of experience teachng, I always aim for junior high school level, minimum. LOL
this is not kindergarten
by David ET on Wed May 06, 2009 08:27 AM PDT"everyone" do not need vali faghih to decide for them. "everyone" can decide for themselves.
David, the delara thread has been reopened for comments.
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Wed May 06, 2009 07:51 AM PDTbut since it had been closed for a while I feel it's pointless to continue to post there. Almost everyone who was active on it as poster or reader already saw it was close, I doubt many people would go back there to see new posts. I still think the best thing to do would be to open your own blog about the issue you are concerned with. But in thinking about it further people are exhausted, maybe everyone needs a little break?
ir.com ?!
by David ET on Wed May 06, 2009 07:46 AM PDTso let me get this straight:
one person breaks the law , and that justifies announcing Marshall law and rounding up the neighborhood?
I guess it fits Delara's fate...
Unquestionably the comments are blocked on the
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Wed May 06, 2009 05:15 AM PDTDelara Darabi thread because of all the nastiness. it is out of respect for Delara. As you know I wrote a bllog on Saturday complaining about the need for more flagging, timely deletions of flaggings, and monitoring of the thread. As we know Javid was traveling at the time, he posted a blog and photo essay about it and probably the delays were due to the traveling. In my blog also said that one person cannot be responsible for all the moderation on the thread because the site is too big--a month ago Javid announced he had decided to do so on a blog. In my Saturday blog I said that the former moderators should've been asked to monitor the Delara thread, that they would've been happy to do it.
By Sunday the thread was a bit more efficiently moderated. He must've gotten sick of the garbage being posted on it. me too. To be honest, if I had been monitoring that thread I would've given a public warning, blocked one person if they hadn't stopped poisoning , and if the abuse continued with others, I would've closed the thread. From the get-go. If I had to close it, also would've posted on top explaining why it was closed. I strongly disapprove of closing threads without saying why. That is neither here nor there. The point is I approve of the closing of the thread.
If yoou want to continue the discussion you should set up your own blog. I would wait until this one is unfeatured, otherwise the new one almost definitely won't get featured. I am going to blog more about Delara. the trick now, a mere five days after the hanging, is how to lure people into it. You know how people are..some are exhausted from it all and they want a rest. Others are back to the cappuccinos.

More than disgust
by jamshid on Wed May 06, 2009 03:23 AM PDTThe IRI continues to do what it is best at, surpressing and brutalizing its own citizens.
These workers and union leaders are the true heroes of our land. From among them, one day a leader will rise.
I hate the IRI and what it stands for. I hate its filth riddled supporters who with their truely parasitic lives have sucked the very life and joy of living out of Iranians. And as though this is not enough, they are trying hard to take away what little medium remains for us in the so called free West.
why?
by David ET on Tue May 05, 2009 11:25 PM PDTwhy comments are blocked on Delara Darabi thread. I can't post there .
can someone explain please?

"First they came…"
by Multiple Personality Disorder on Tue May 05, 2009 08:37 PM PDTA poem attributed to Pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984)
Original:
Als die Nazis die Kommunisten holten,
habe ich geschwiegen;
ich war ja kein Kommunist.
Als sie die Sozialdemokraten einsperrten,
habe ich geschwiegen;
ich war ja kein Sozialdemokrat.
Als sie die Gewerkschafter holten,
habe ich nicht protestiert;
ich war ja kein Gewerkschafter.
Als sie die Juden holten,
habe ich geschwiegen;
ich war ja kein Jude.
Als sie mich holten,
gab es keinen mehr, der protestieren konnte.
Translation:
When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
Then they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
I was not a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out for me.
I just posted this David on the Iranian of the Day Delara
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Mon May 04, 2009 08:20 PM PDTSUBJECT: IT'S ME, DADDY, DELARA,
They just told me they're going to hang me now. Do something. Don't let me die.
That's what she said to her father when they let her call him right before the hanging. On May Day.
One hundred workers and human rights activists celebrating May Day in solidarity with the workers in Tehran, beaten with batons and arrested to the tune of the news of the surprisee stringing up of Delara Darabi, pin-up girl.
Mayday, mayday! It's me Daddy. Iran. Do something. Don't let me die!
DON'T LET ME DIE!
