“After a certain age every man is responsible for his face.” -- Albert Camus
Many have commented about how unusually ugly Ahmadinejad is. But far from being an exception, ugliness seems to be so prevalent among the Islamic Republic leaders that it makes one wonder if it is a requirement. Here is a collection of 8 Iranian leaders that were singled out in 2010 for specific U.S. sanctions against them. So I did not select these people for being more ugly than other IRI leaders. I could have easily picked 30 other high ranking IRI leaders who are just as ugly.
Iranian people are very rarely this ugly. You could walk all day in one of Iranian cities without seeing anyone matching their hideousness. Theirs is not the ordinary ugly. These people have a different type of ugly, a kind of bone deep foulness that is rare in the general public. I have only seen this kind of grotesqueness on the faces of certain murderers. There is a heaviness to their ugliness. Their faces are not just ugly, they are frightening. These are the faces shaped by years of murder and torture. The ugly thoughts and efforts have left their mark on their faces, especially the eyes. The light of humanity in their eyes has been replaced by the dead stare of predatory animals. They have ended up with faces that they deserve. It is ugliness of the soul that is truly required to make one a Hizbullahi.

General Rule, The more Islamic , the uglier

That is why they are Oghde-ee, and hateful of anything beautiful in life
Islam & ugliness have gone hand in hand for 1400 years. The main reason for Hejab was and is because old and ugly Muslims (like Mohamad ) were/are always afraid someone will steal their wife.
Look at these faces. Jafari always look as if he is sick

religion women and ugliness
by fidelio5 on Mon Feb 13, 2012 04:58 PM PSTits no secret that all religions seek to dominate women. the urge to 'own' women permeates all religions like a foul stench.
That the unattractive and the dispossessed are attracted to religion is related to this.
I mean you would think there would be one, just one of them that you don't want to cringe at.
its not random

by Doost daaram pas hastam on Mon Feb 13, 2012 02:35 PM PSTAhmadi declared the total absence of gays in Iran with such certainty that he must have done his own research. He must have approached so many men and been totally rejected by all of them that he has reached that sad but scientific conclusion.
Ddph, told you!
by Ari Siletz on Mon Feb 13, 2012 02:03 PM PSTAhmadi is quite a hit with gays in the U.S. In fact did you sense a note of sadness in the President's words when he said there were no gays in Iran? It wasn't a denial, it was a complaint.

by Anahid Hojjati on Mon Feb 13, 2012 12:59 PM PSTFrom above pictures, Jafari and Mortazavi don't look bad. The ones from cabinet that I mentioned were ten times uglier than these guys. As far as Khomeini, for an old guy, he was not bad looking. If you take a look at pictures of some of his grand kids, you see that decent looks runs in the family, for instance Zahra Eshraghi. Interestingly, as I searched for a picture of her,Ii found this article:

by yolanda on Mon Feb 13, 2012 12:31 PM PSTGood observation!
On my list, the 3 ugliest IRI officials are Ahmed Khatami, Jannati, and the Basiji commander:

by Ari Siletz on Mon Feb 13, 2012 12:29 PM PSTI've noted too that Americans aren't particularly repelled by the scuzzy IRI look the way some Iranians are. In fact, there was a Sean Connery comparison to Khomeini. Also Jafari (top left) could do a John Belushi impersonation on SNL. Moslehi (bottom left) makes an adequate Bob Hoskins. And Radan's nose outdoes even Karl Malden's famous schnozzle.
Very funny Ari
by Anahid Hojjati on Mon Feb 13, 2012 12:00 PM PSTThat is to certain degree true. Being attracted to someone definetely makes them more beautiful or handsome in one's eyes. However, I did not realize it could do this for Ahmadinejad too. Also, I think AN's uglines is mostly in Iranians' eyes. With all the dislike towards AN, I don't remember Americans talking much about his ugliness, or maybe they do and I just don't remember.
I believe it. There are all sorts of weird fetish
by Doost daaram pas hastam on Mon Feb 13, 2012 11:57 AM PSTAri, I heard that guy was "straightened" after he visited Ahmadinejad in Iran. Because, as we know, there are no gays in Iran. I am not sure how this "straightening" happens. More research is needed.

You just offended all the Iranian men.
by Doost daaram pas hastam on Mon Feb 13, 2012 11:38 AM PSTMamoor, Hizbullah
started with IRI in Iran. Lebanese Hizbullah is a later offshoot of
the Iranian Hizbullah created, financed, armed, trained, led and owned by
Iranian Hizbullah(IRI). It has been common to refer to IRI supporters as Hezbollahi. Context matters. I thought everyone knew that.
Iran
would be the ugliest country in the world by a long mile if all
Iranians looked like this Hizbullahi bunch. You just offended all the Iranian men.
Picture of Dorian Grey
by Rebecca on Mon Feb 13, 2012 11:06 AM PSTWell this reminds of Oscar Wilde's Picture of Dorian Grey. IR's people are ugly because their brutal bahavior and ruthlessness are reflecting in their faces...no wonder they are so hideous.

No more such favors from the devil
by Doost daaram pas hastam on Mon Feb 13, 2012 08:44 AM PSTAhahid, I agree about the “Picture
of Dorian Gray”. Oscar Wilde acknowledged the negative effects of
dreadful thoughts and deeds on one's face. Dorian Gray was able to
pull off that trick by transferring them to his portrait. It seems
that since Gray's time devil has had its fill of human souls and is
no longer doing those types of favors.
My problem is not with their ugly faces...
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Mon Feb 13, 2012 08:17 AM PSTBut with their ugly deeds....
"Personal business must yield to collective interest."
Dear DDPH, There are far more ugly ones than these
by Anahid Hojjati on Mon Feb 13, 2012 08:03 AM PSTin IRI leadership. I remember few years ago when a new Iranian cabinet was chosen, almost all were extremely ugly. It was fun to look at the pictures of them and see how ugly they were. I agree with you where you wrote:"Iranian people are very rarely this ugly. You could walk all day in one of Iranian cities without seeing anyone matching their hideousness. Theirs is not the ordinary ugly."
This is reverse of the movie Picture of Dorian Gray. In that movie "Dorian Gray" sold his soul and each sin was displayed as an ugliness on his portrait. With IRi leaders, it is displayed on their faces as you noted.
