An eye for an eye

A couple of days ago in the midnight world news of the B.B.C. it was announced that Israel has categorically refused to allow a U.N fact finding mission to enter occupied areas in the West Bank where construction of further Jewish settlements are in progress. I thought that this contemptuous defiance would be reported in the Times of yesterday (28th March) or in the Evening Standard, two dailies that I peruse regularly, but there was not a word about it in either paper. This is not an exceptional occurrence. The Press in the Western world is generally sympathetic to Israel to the point of being selective in news and editorials. Whether this attitude is related to a historical guilty conscience is a matter for conjecture. The Holocaust and murder of 6 million Jews in the Nazi concentration camps should have, and did, affect the German psyche in the post war years and all German Chancellors from Adenaur to Mrs. Merkel of today have tried to compensate for the past misdeeds of the guilty generation. Jewish Pogroms in other countries notably in Spain in the distant past and in Russia before the October Revolution of 1917 seem to have faded in historical memories, The right wing or religious Israeli Jews, however seem to think that the world will owe them something for ever. Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, in his recent visit to the White House and in speeches to large gatherings of Jewish Lobbies kept on beating on the war drum against Iran . He considers that crippling sanctions against that country are not enough and before the Islamic regime attains nuclear bomb status it is the duty of America to launch a preemptive attack. In this pursuit most Israeli Media and press pour out a stream of invective against Iran to the point of even falsifying history by implying that Iranians have always been enemies of the Jews. This is, of course the very opposite of historical facts, but Israeli propagandists have never lost an opportunity to besmirch. Iranians Sixteen years ago to be exact after an atrocity by Hisballah,, an Israeli Press Officer wrote an article in Times of London threatening that “Israel sees Iran as next in Line for punishment Times 19th April 1996)” In response to a lot of falsification in his piece I wrote to the Times and here I quote that letter exactly:-

Dear Sir etc. Uri Dromi the Israeli Press Officer who says “Israel sees Iran as next in Line for punishment” should be reminded that the Israeli and Hizbollah cycle of violence culminating in last Thursday’s appalling carnage at U.N. shelter in Qana is a consequence of near Identical Jewish and Islamic creed of “An Eye for an Eye,etc.”this is in complete contrast to the ancient Iranian concept of “MEHR” or kindness-not for reward but for its own sake. The Iranian were historically, the liberators of Jews, and Purin, the Feast of Esther relates to the deliverance of Babylonian Jews in 538 B.C. by Cyrus the King of the Persians. Having defeated Nabonidus the Semite Babylonian Emperor, Cyrus helped thousands of Jewish slaves to go back to Jerusalem and then built a town for the rest near his own favorite summer Capital at Ecbatan(Hamadan in today’s Iran). The direct descendant of those freed slaves constituted the bulk of Iranian Jewry until quite recent times The Islamic oligarchy that rules Iran by murder and repression and extends its terror abroad is alien to what is truly and historically Iranian If Mr. Dromi is motivated by Judeo-Islamic laws of Vengence let him take it out of the instigators of Hizbollah and not out of Iran and the Iranian people. Yours Truly etc. Signed

After 16 years since I wrote this letter ,there has been little change in the hostile attitude of the Israeli rulers. This is not surprising after a stupid ogre President Ahmadi-nejad gave them a Carte Blanche by threatening to wipe out the Zionists! Mr. Netanyahu considers Iran’s threat as “existential” so any measure including elimination of Iranian Nuclear scientists-five of them to date - implicitly admitted by Ehud Barak – appears to him to be justifiable. The Fascist Oligarchy of Mullahs that has imposed its rule by repression, torture and murder for over thirty years is detested by the majority of thinking Iranians. But any attack on Iran will only aid and abet that oligarchy to extend its nefarious rule as it did after 8 years of Iran-Iraq war and a million dead and disabled. Khomeini considered that war as a gift from the Almighty when his regime was teetering on the verge of collapse. The Fascist Ayatollahs who plunder the country and waste precious resources on Hamas and Hizbollah have no qualms with another war. They see it as the best opportunity to Islamize Iran =once and for all-something that their progenitors dreamt of for 14 centuries bur failed to realize.
