My friend shared some memories about Ostad Shahriari

by Anahid Hojjati on

One of my friends who used to live close to Ostad Shahriari shared some memories with us today after I had sent the link to this article.  According to his memories, Ostad took the time to mentor my young friend and was nice and helpful toward him.  This happened about thirty years ago.  From my freinds' e-mail, it appears that Ostad is still alive.

Respect

by divaneh on

I have always had great respect for the man despite all the problems that he caused me in the high school with his Algebra book. I also had a book called "Integral Riyazi" (Mathematical Integration) that I think was from him but could not see it in the list. Perhaps I am wrong. Thanks for the post ebi.

Anonymouse

I think I know him! I think he was one of my math teachers.

by Anonymouse on

I think Mr. Shahriari was one my math teachers, possibly the Logaritm class. I don't remember the exact details, been so many years, but I do remember him as being of the best math teachers in Iran at the time.

Thanks for remembering him. The blog didn't say if he has passed away so I don't want to say something wrong.  I remember him as a very good teacher, very good.

Everything is sacred.

shazdeh and ebi khan a great blog, story and links to read on this sunday thank you .

NOT to side track your blog ,But came to my mind this tale from my father; that when they were in 1st or 2nd grade in high school in order to get their sugar, flour and....RATION they were issued a javanan-tudeh membership book !!

which caused him a simple discharge from Army in 1953.

And again in 1980 for being an out spoken person for RASTAKHIZ...........Maziar

Thank you Shazdeh

I'll look at the links you gave. I don't suppose he is alive, is he?

Shazde Asdola Mirza

HollyUSA: Behazin was a legandry Tudeh Party leader

by Shazde Asdola Mirza on

To understand Behazin, it is best if you read about the Tudeh Party. Here are a couple of links for the starter:

//www.tudehpartyiran.org/

//www.tudehpartyiran.org/english.htm

If you can read Persian, there is a book about the Tudeh martys, in their library, linked below, where you can read more about Behazin and others.

//www.tudehpartyiran.org/books.htm

He was a WWII hero, who lost his left arm during the British airforce attack on the Imperial Navy of Iran in 1941. He has written a number of fictions and my favorite is: "Mehman Aan Aghayan", or "A guest of those gentlemen", which is a chronicle of his time in Tehran's Ghasr prison. But I don't have access to an on-line version of it. If others do, please give the link.

Manoucher Avaznia

ابی جان؛

Manoucher Avaznia

Can you tell me more about 'Beh azin'? Who was he? Was he ever in prison (sepcifically in the 80's?) And his first name please.

If you like you can email me through my contact link or you can respond here.

Thanks very much.

Souri

Oooops! Sorry

by Souri on

I stand corrected  I meant: religious ..(.why did I say Christian? LOL)

And no you are not so ordinary....and no  they were not so KHAR that you think!

Shazde Asdola Mirza

Souri: there're so many ways for even the best to become KHAR

by Shazde Asdola Mirza on

1. Mostly, those good people thought that their handlers were also "good". Sometimes being good and trusting makes us vulnerable.

2. The international communism was one of the best propaganda machines in the world, second perhaps to only Hitler's.

3. Many scientists and specialists are so concentrated on a certain subject (say math or physics) that they don't have an adequate understanding of the more complex social issues.

4. Einstein was Jewish and I am anything but ordinary ;-)

Souri

dear Shazdeh

by Souri on

How can we (people like you, me, Ali P, benross.....etc, etc) judge the great scientists like Shahriari, Beh-Azin, Tabari...and so on, based on their ideology? What we do know?

How could we dare to question their knowledge or understanding of the universe and saying that "it is a pity that despite their great knowledge they never understood that they were wrong?"

You are a rational person. Do you think that this kind of judgment coming from "the ordinary people" like you and me, is anything rational?

Who can say that they have been wrong in their ideology? Who knows to what degree they have reached in their researches of the truth? At least we can agree that we are far behind of them, regarding the level of intelligence.

Granted, I never understood why Einstein with so much knowledge, was so much Christian! Does this allow me to have pity for Einstein's way of thinking ? How can I dare ?

Monda

Very Honorable man

by Monda on

Sepaas Ebi jan for posting these clips on Dr. Shahriari.

I recalled his contributions by our math books, Kharazmi schools and his Mazdak va Mazdakian.  I was in the dark about the rest of his prolific life. Also intriguing was to hear the quality of motivation and encouragement he provided for his accomplished students, brothers and colleagues. A very decent human being.

Dear Ebi,Ostad Shahriari has special place among science lovers

Dear Ebi, thanks for sharing.  Among some of my high school friends, Ostad Shahriari has a special place so I shared your article with them and already thanks to me are flowing which I should send to you.

ابی‌ جان: دستت درد نکنه که این اساتید رو معرفی‌ میکنی‌

Shazde Asdola Mirza
