For two nights in a row (September 12 and 13), U2 paid tribute to the valiant Iranians for their struggle for freedom, democracy and human rights to a lively and cheerful sold out crowd of 75000 for each night at Chicago’s Soldier Field. Through their magnificent technology, U2 showed the memorable pictures of the bravery of Iranian people and especially the youth fighting with courage and conviction for liberty in their homeland. Iranians in the crowd were seen crying as the moving pictures of young Iranians fighting for their rights were beamed on the giant screen and 75000 Chicagoans on each night were standing on their feet to salute Iranians

Iranians and the world know that Iran’s struggle for freedom will be victorious soon. U2 is to be thanked immensely for their support of our country’s movement for liberty and justice. The day is nearing closer to when U2 will perform in Iran and Iranian people will shower them with flowers! Yes, we will not forget. Thank You U2

Persian Heroines (and Heroes)

by C_Big_Picture on

For all of you music buffs out there, I wanted to share with you a very simple slide-show video I created that was inspired by an old song written by Sinead O'Connor and The Edge (of U2), and which represented a hopefully reasonable and appropriate way to honor the Persian Heroines (and Heroes) who have risked life and liberty in pursuit of democracy, justice, fairness, and peace in Iran.

In my humble opinion, not many songs exist that can express as powerfully as this song does, some of the raw sentiments currently being felt by a large segment of the "Sea of Green" Protest Movement in Iran and elsewhere in the aftermath of the Iranian Elections of 2009.

And finally, another of my objectives for creating this video was to try and keep the protest movement alive and kicking by ensuring that the sacrifices made by these brave women and men of the movement would not be easily or quickly forgotten, despite the regime's best efforts to quash the movement and to break its spirit with cruel and heavy-handed tactics.

Here is the video embedded in a blog article I wrote on Iranian.com:

//iranian.com/main/blog/c-big-picture/persian-heroines-and-heroes

To the extent that any of you would be willing to share this simple slideshow video with others so that the spirit of the movement can be kept alive in the minds of as many citizens of the world as possible, this would help ensure that the sacrifices of these brave women and men will not have been in vain.

Thank you all for your time, patience, and understanding.

I agree with you that:

 The day is nearing closer to when U2 will perform in Iran and Iranian people will shower them with flowers! Yes, we will not forget. Thank You U2

   I want to add Nico Pitney of Huffington Post to the list 'cause he worked so tirelessly during the post-election protests to do the live blogging.

 thanks,
