EMEL SAYEN
by fozolie on Sat Jul 11, 2009 05:21 AM PDTIt's in the title, in spite of the poor quality you can hear her Turkish accent. Had not heard her name in years. He certianly did get around and made friends in LALA Land.
You are welcome.
Mr. Fozolie
Amazing THANKS Again ;0)
by Darius Kadivar on Sat Jul 11, 2009 04:26 AM PDTI also noticed on imdb that he had an uncredited role as a Turkish Soldier in a Humphrey Bogart Film. Interesting to see that he is seen also with a Turkish Diva (I forgot her name ?) in your clip with Gharib Afshar and Anoushiravan Rohani at the Piano.
I also heard that Siamak Pourzand a film critic who is in the IRI prisons today was also a good friend of Alfred Hitchcock and Francois Truffaut in the 1960's. Its incredible and rejuvinating to discover these bits and pieces of our collective popular culture. It proves that Art is Truly the most Universal medium in the world.
Thanks a Million again for sharing these great photos and memories.
VIVE LE CINEMA !

There you go ;-)
by fozolie on Sat Jul 11, 2009 02:39 AM PDTEnjoy! Since we are engaging in nostalgia, I always loved the insistance of the Iranian journalist to shove a copy of his 'organ' into the hands of the hapless celebrity. Tehran Mossavvar, Sepid o Siah etc. etc.
It became a fascination to see how well the poor target hid the fact that he or she could not understand Persian or make heads or tails of what was shoved in his or her hands.
Mr. Fozolie
PS There are some errors in the Keyhan article. It has the release date as 58 which is not correct and says Sheibani wrote the score for Dream Wife which he didn't, he contributed to one of the songs. I better stop before sounding really geeky.
Well I had to outdo the master!
by fozolie on Sat Jul 11, 2009 01:13 AM PDTI learnt from Darius!! Sheibani must have had an amazing time in LALA Land back in those days.
I don't have a pic but his obituary is in this week's issue of Keyhan of London. Let me see if I can scan it for you.
Mr. Fozolie
WOW !
by Darius Kadivar on Fri Jul 10, 2009 02:13 PM PDTFozolie Now THAT IS A GEM !

I had never even noticed this film nor heard of this composer. Do you have a Photo of him by anychance ?
As for Cary GRANT he is Certainly the Greatest Star of them All ...
Muchas Gracias Again,

PS: What an Irony the film was released in 1953 ( the same year as the Coup)
