Do not forget the geopolitical location of Iran, vast reservoirs of oil, gas and other precious natural resources, strong Islamic influence, and history of dictatorship supported by the foreign powers. Comparing India with Iran is like comparing apples with oranges.
During the WWII, when Iran was occupied by the foreign troops, they forced reza shah to leave the country, and sent him on exile in South Africa, even though he had announced neutrality in the war. By the way, have you thought why the foreign powers have not used ordangi for any of the IRI dictators in 33 years?
I do not believe that majority of Iranians are in love with murder. rape, dictatorship and other ills in the country, just to have some amniat. But they need education and awareness of their past history, and what is going on in the world. Learn to cooperate with each other, do not accept any dictatorship, and sacrifice for their freedom and secular democracy.
Millions of fair and educated Iranians who live in the free world, have the responsibility to do their part, if they care for their people.

Omeedvar, During the
by Babak K. on Wed Sep 21, 2011 01:42 PM PDTOmeedvar,
During the period that Saddam Hussein was in power there was no drugs in Iraq. The crime rate was also exceptionally low and you can geuss why. When we allow dictators to abandon the law and all the human norms so that we can have Amniat (security) that is when we all lose. We condamn the action of a dictator even if he bring Amniat, becuase the next target for a dictator is you and me. By defeding the rights of a criminal we are actually defending our own rights in the first place. Reza Shah had very little regard for the law of the land and the Iranian constitution, and he paid the price like any Middle Eastern dictator and was kicked out with ordangi. A Middle Eastern dictator only understands ordangi and assssination (Rezah Shah, Shah, Anvar Sadat, Mobarak, Gadaffi, Ben Ali, Zia AlHagh, Bashar Assad...). We want to stop the culture of ordangi and murder that so many Iranians are in love with. Gandi brought democracy to India (country of so many nationalities, langauges and religions) through the respect for human digity and human values, not by goldori or intimidation. Ommedvar, since when Iranian parents or grandparents have started thinking right, or they practiced decency and sharaf or vojdan? If they we so decent then we could not have so much ill in our country.

Nothing new
by omeedvar on Wed Sep 21, 2011 12:30 PM PDTIn the first couple of years after the revolution, when Khalkhali was in charge of thousands of prisoners, some members of the tudeh party who at the time were helping the IRI, told friends that when khalkhali would order to shoot or hang the young prisoners, within 24 hours of their capture on the streets, some of those youngsters, mostly 12-16 years of age, would cry and ask for their mothers, before the execution. Of course they were innocent, and they only were in the street to celebrate the revolution. But these mature tudehees would describe it as, "they would cry sort of tahavo' avar, and begged to see their mothers before execution"!
I do not agree with Babak K. about reza shah. Considering the terrible situation at that time, he brought amniat by stablishing trained police and jendarmery forces for the first time, to provide the security of streets and roads for the people. Our parents and grand parents have witnessed the events of the past several decades in Iran.
Fred, Everything you said
by Babak K. on Wed Sep 21, 2011 09:47 AM PDTFred,
Everything you said is great and I could not agree with you more. The brutality and savegry of the Islamic regime know no limits.
But:
You may not know how screw up my people are. My people always think of Amniat (securty) no matter how costly it is. My people always follow a dictator as long as he brings Amniat(securty). If these little low lives are not eliminated then according to my screwed up people, we do not have Amniat, and then they are ready for any dictator like Reza Shah or Khomeini to show them Borandagi (decissiveness). My screwd people love Borandagi. Anyway you look at it, we are screwed my friend.
