Musings of a former chicken

I like to nominate Mr. Akbar Bigdeli, the learned prosecutor of Hamedan province as the Iranian of the day.

In response to the question of why the act of chopping off the hands of five Iranians who had been “convicted” of crime of theft was not done in public, Mr. Biglari is quoted as having said:

"The five thieves whose sentence was to have their hands chopped off were carried out in the Hamedan’s central prison. Their average ages was above 25 years and were convicted of major theft. Fortunately few of them were from Hamendan.

"The arrogant world which claims Iran does not pay any regard to human rights would use the news of this punishment to its own advantage.”
