My question is this........

I know that many have mentioned on the web site on various blogs/articles that not voting was ineffective in the past.

My question is as follows: If there is a mass voting against the IRI's favorite candidates will the government honor the voting? Will it improve the life of Iranians in Iran?

I am simply trying to gain a better understanding of the current political structure in Iran.

Your kind citation of Gandhi is so nice that I didn’t want to tarnish it by my comment. But I can’t stop doing it :)

I think that people have to send a message to the regime; they have to say that they are not dupe. The system has to know that people have rights to think, live as they like and no one can take these basic rights from them. The regime can kill, stone to death, hang, flagellate, demolish lives but it can not take hope from people. It has to know that if it doesn’t change, it will not stay on power by usurping, stealing and destroying the country anymore. There is a way to show all these frustrations, it’s not by manifesting and giving the regime reasons to be more brutal as it is. Hard liners search any domestic or foreign confrontation to harden their grip; this is their way of surviving.

To win the game, one has to play it against them with their rules. One can not stay away from events and say lenguesh kon. This way of doing is to give green lights to Mahmoud like individuals inside the regime. People have to go and vote against their candidates, our force put together is stronger than any Messi or Mehdi.

Boycotting and election, particularly in this junction, or any time for that fact is a childish gesture. It has always proven to have back fired and created much stronger platform for the opposition, in this case Ahmadinejad.

I see you are an student of Gandhi as well. In his autobiography called [The Story of My Experiments with Truth] :

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall — think of it, always."

There is only one Capt’ne on this site and it’s you. I enjoyed the beautiful poem, mine ingosht-koochikeyeh sh’r aghayeh khorssandi ham nemisheh. But I hope that it’s a drop in this ocean of dissatisfaction.

I hear self-proclaiming democrats telling that Iranians have to boycott the elections. I completely disagree. People have to go and vote for the candidate that the system doesn’t want the most. In every scenario, it’s the best action that one can do to destabilize the regime.

The regime is already paranoid; every single manifestation is repressed brutally. By showing their peaceful disagreement, people send a big signal to mullahs who will become crazier than what they are actually.

Ghandi understood it 50 years ago. One has to protest if the system is wrong, and if the repression is high the best confrontation is the peaceful protest.
