Congressman Ron Paul speaks common sense about the sanctions bill.
He is right and I encourage all of you to listen to what he says. In particular, a trade war with Russia and China is very stupid right now (or always!).
If the US says that anyone who imports goods to Iran will not be a trading partner, that can only mean one thing. War.
Don't be fooled by people who say sanctions are not the same as war. They are one and the same.
The USA is burning and failing. American politicians who have an IQ less than 100 don't care and haven't cared. If you are US citizen, call your representative or senator. Tell him or her that Sanctions on Iran are stupid and wrong for America. Our foreign policy and banking policies are killing the USA.
Sadly, most US politicians work for Israel since they get campaign funding from them. So what? They are elected to represent Americans, NOT Israelis. If Israel wants a war, let them have it. They know they cannot win a war against Iran unless they blast their nukes on Iranians. Nukes they do not have the courage to confess to having! They are more corrupt than Iran, who has never broken accord with the NPT.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Apr 28, 2010 10:30 AM PDTPaul on social policy and economics is a radial. I said before he has taken a sane stance regarding Israel. Good for him. Mehrdad said it does not take a genious to see the obvious. Ron Paul saw the obvious on this one.
However his economic and social policy is nuts. Do you beleive in total deregulation of all econimic activity and no social safety net? Have your read his policies or not?
If you support his policies please write down what you find so good on them.
If you really are for them then you are to the right of most Republicans.
Thanks Marge for the link
by Bavafa on Mon Apr 26, 2010 08:42 PM PDTRon Paul is surely a courageous man and I like his stands particularly in the foreign policy area.
But it does not take a genius to see the stupidity in the warmongering attitude of the Neo-con/AIPAC that are driving this country to hell. Those who have no regards for the Iranian people and cheering for war, ought to know that what goes around, will come around. So, the US atrocities in Iraq will be paid in due time and if they try more atrocity in Iran, then they ought to look forward to payback time for that as well.

VPK - insane? Do say the same about the current "policies"??
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Mon Apr 26, 2010 11:02 AM PDTRon Paul is one man. Even as president, he would be dealing with a corrupt and worthless Congress. The best I could say is he could veto the bailouts, farm bills, and other financial bills that come his way. He will have to build partnerships, and that could take 6 months to a year. Ron Paul isn't perfect, but he's 100% better than anyone I have seen either party offer. His policies on social and economic welfare aren't nuts at all, especially when you consider the insanity going on presently.

by capt_ayhab on Mon Apr 26, 2010 10:11 AM PDTYou do have an excellent point in respect to Ron Paul's economic and governmental views.
Ron Paul follows, to the letter, the philisophy of [Lesser Fair]: "Pour gouverner mieux, il faudrait gouverner moins" ("To govern best,
one needs to govern less").
There are many points that can be debated on this philosophy which might require whole separate blog, in order not to deviate from subject matter of this particular one.
Do I personally agree with him economic views, NO, but does he have some strong points? Yes.

Ron Paul
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Mon Apr 26, 2010 10:00 AM PDTis a libertarian. His foreign policies may be reasonable. But his economic and social policies are insane. If the libertarians ever get to power they will dismantle from social security to work safety to health care to environmental protection. It will be the rich corporations' dream and the wild west.
Ron Paul is a package and if became the US president there will be a mess. First there will be non stop fighting with congress and vetoes followed by overrides. If by a change his party did manage to get majorities in congress then good bye safety nets. Good bye pretty much any role for the government. Back to warlords and corporate gangsters. It won't be a pretty sight. Don't just look at his foreign policy. There is a lot more to running a nation and he is off on many of them.
Who says so?
by capt_ayhab on Mon Apr 26, 2010 10:02 AM PDTWho says sanctions means war?
Just look at the cases on hand. Take Iraq.
US imposed air tight sanction on Iraq after Desert Shield and so called liberation of Kuwait, and after establishing permanent bases there and Saudi Arabia, in order to prevent bloodshed. Can we not see how beautiful it ended? 500,000 children dead, and 1,000,000 adults because of lack of medicine and food.
That was just before they invaded those poor and already broken people. All ended rosy[as in color of BLOOD]
You people who oppose sanctions are so naive that you can not see how HUMANITARIAN and PEACE LOVING is the concept of sanction, Just listen to AIPAC, Neo Cons and their cohorts in this thread by the names of Fred, and [everyone LOVES ......]. Do you think any one with the word LOVE in their log-in name could have any ill toward people of Iran ?
You people are so ungrateful and unfair to these sane and peace loving folks.
Just don't let catch you again whining about how bad sanctions are , and how they are designed and USED in the past to break down the spirit of a nation before all out military attacks. Even all out war on any nation has been to bring democracy and prosperity to those countries, just look at Cuba, Iraq etc etc etc.
Do we understand each other now? You clueless anti war crowd? You people must be working for IR for sure, how else anyone could not love sanctions, hunger, bloodshed, and every single noble concept behind sanctions and wars. AH........ Not to mention how expensive it is to wage a beautiful and noble war like that, It has forced US to pump every single drop of Oil under Iraq for free just to pay for all that expenses.......... >:-|

Charlatanism,
by Mardom Mazloom on Mon Apr 26, 2010 09:51 AM PDTThere is just a single resident evil on this site, who advocates for blind tight-tight sanctions and that is .... (drum): Mein Fraüd.
When you try to argue with this "person" with a heart full of hatred you just take racist offenses in return! Why? The reason is simple: Hardliners in Israel need a weaken Iran ruled by other Mafioso, i.e. Mullahs, in order to have the last rhetoric and to push for their think-tank policy in the ME. In the other hand, Mullahs need a war because they think that this is a golden-way which allows them to have 30 miserable years more to rule.
Hate(war)mongers are godsend for Mullahs and vice-versa. In the middle, you find some demoniac hatred persons who play the role of oil easing the hate machine to turn. In one hand you find hatemongers who push for blind sanctions and in the other you have hateful persons who push for nuclear facilities in the hand of mullahs.
Blind sanctions have no other rational reasoning than the death of innocents who will either be killed by famine or bullets when a war comes to finish the work.
And imagine who remains at the end? Warmongers in both sides! That's the sad end that these demoniac people are planning. So, khak allam bar sareh har irooni ke in mossibat ro barayeh keshvaresh bekhad. cheh racist-hayeh bimokh, cheh mozdoor-hayeh eshvehghar Vevak.
Sanction is war
by Mammad on Mon Apr 26, 2010 09:14 AM PDTShame on those of you who are bloodthirsty and want nothing but war, those of you who are in fact one person, but have registered under different names, such as the resident charlatan Mafioso in this website.
In the 1990s the toughest sanctions were imposed on Iraq. The results?
1. At least 500,000 Iraq children died as a result of mulnuitrition. Remember that infamous interview of 60 minutes with Madeleine Albright? What type of military attack can kill that many innocent people?
2. Since sanctions never work, their failue becomes a reason for arguing for, and eventually staging, military attacks. Remember war criminals Dick Cheney and GW Bush and how they used such arguments?
Anyone who argues for sanctions - of the type that only hurt the common peopple not the tools of repression - is nothing but a traitor to his/her native land. There is no other way of putting it. This is NOT a matter of expressing one's opinion. You want to see why I say this? Just look at the nonsense that "Everybody Loves Somebody" utters. He/She is the embodiment of treason and hatred. Shame on you.

Straw Polls

Even though I am a registered Dem. but if he runs against anyone but President Obama, I will vote for him. He never shy's away from telling the truth as it is.

Yea it is war on Iran now, sadly to a greater extent.I am hoping after Ahmadinjihad is gone that war can end.
I'm not sure what would have happened had Ron Paul won but I think Ron could have made things alot better.I know many of you would have been trashing him as well.
For now I think Obama is doing the right thing and I think he will wind down the wars some more.We will be ready for Ron Paul to draw back in 2 years

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sun Apr 25, 2010 09:28 PM PDThow right you are. The damage done by American bought and paid for politicians is vast. Nothing IRI or the rest of the world has done is near the damage of outsourcing. By shipping jobs and importing junk US is destroying its own middle class. Hey Dola "Shotor" Nasreding
by Everybody Loves Somebody ... on Sun Apr 25, 2010 02:56 PM PDTI am glad you admit that Q among your ilk is the wise one here. Compared to single-digits IQ shotor like yourself a wannabe Moo-Savi comes across as a wise one!
BTW, single-digits, no one is trying to demonize Iran! Demonizing the mother of all demons that is the Islamic Republic is another story and your masters (i.e., the mullahs) have done a great job in doing so over the past 31 years!
Incidentally, there is not a single Iranian target on the bombing wish-list. They are all Islamic/Arabic targets. In that spirit, let's pray to the mighty Allah for the biggest bombs of all to fall on them.
As your ilk members would say Allah-o-Akbar!

by Mola Nasredeen on Sun Apr 25, 2010 02:17 PM PDTAs I mentioned it to Marge. They (individuals or organizations) appoint one or more buggers to wear you (the wise ones) down. Of course you can argue back: "but it's the same crowd with a different logging name".
Well you have a point in there too. I believe they're a combination of both groups, meaning agents and idiots reacting intermittenly to wear you down.

Marge, First they demonize Iran, then they sanction Iran, next
by Mola Nasredeen on Sun Apr 25, 2010 10:51 AM PDTcomes embargo and then bombardment of the country. This has been the neocons plans since the begining. And they need many Chalabies among Iranians to complete the plan. And as you know we have many wannabi Chalabies (outed and in closet) right here on this site. It's a fluid situation and the outcome is not certain yet. I don't think president Obama is looking forward to go to war with Iran and that's why so many Israelis (and monarchists) are pissed off. If USA go to war with Iran we will have Armageddon on our hand and the dream of the born again christians would be realized.
As you can see God's plan will be fulfilled as has been stated in the old and new testament.
Thanks Q
by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on Sun Apr 25, 2010 10:36 AM PDTI supported Ron Paul's campaign from '07-'08. His supporters are some of the coolest people I have met in the USA (physicists and chemists!), basically NERDS. Some people say he is "ahead of his time," which is ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. The time to stop the madness is now. I was weary of him when he would talk about ending the FDA.After I understood that the FDA is another corrupt wing of corporations like the DOD, it made sense. Ron Paul does a good job of communicating basic information - demystifying it..... like telling people that the thought that sanctions instead of war is compromise and diplomatic is wrong. Even fucking North Korea gets to have "talks." Bill Clinton got up and went there to rescue two journalists! Shady shady.
I hope the people who are so excited for nuking Iran and igniting war wouuld get their butts to Iran ASAP and put their money where their mouth is (and is and is and is..... so many broken records). Enjoy the green tan from Israel, if you survive to see it.
Thanks Marge, Ron Paul has integrity
by Q on Sun Apr 25, 2010 10:22 AM PDTSomething very few politicians have anymore. (Democrat or Republican)
I remember not too long ago when the threat of war was very high, some of the usual "regime-change uber alles" partisans accused me of "hyping" the threat to help the IRI. They kept saying: Nobody wants war.
They were dead wrong of course. Besides the genocidal morons who as you see have declared their support for it, there are many many idiots who, blinded by hatred, would easily support bombing their own grandmothers.
If nothing else, your video serves to show that such vatan-forush are very much among us.
