Tuesday 5 February 2008 Iran Human Rights: Behnam Zare, convicted of a murder he allegedly committed in 2005, when he was 15 years old, is at imminent risk of execution. His death sentence that was approved by the Supreme Court, is now sent to the section for implementation of the verdict (Ejraaye Ahkam), at Adel abad prison of Shiraz, where Behnam is being held, reported the state-run news agency ISNA today. The news agency, was qouting Behnas’s lawyer Mohammad Mostafaei; who has been defending several of the minors who have been sentenced to death in Iran. Iran has ratified the UN’s convention for the rights of the children, which has forbidden death penalty for the offences committed at under 18 years of age. But in 2007, at least 8 minor offenders were executed in Iran.

after reading comments here, I am going to add my other comment from the SCE blog for Behnam:

When I look at my 14 years old son, I realize how immature he still is, capable of making stupid mistakes. He has any real perception of life or death. In his world, he kills "bad guys" and "monsters" and still remains an angel. For him, everything is black or white.

I don't know Behnam, but he couldn't be much wiser than my son. Anyone can make mistakes, but what matters the most is how he is supposed to pay for it.

In the case Behnam, the price to pay is his life and it is really not fair.

I just sent my letters to Khameni and Shahrudi,

asking forgiveness..

I don't know Behnam, but I saw his picture every time I went on SCE site to find out the latest news about Ali Mahin Torabi. He was there looking childish and desperate.

So I wrote a simple letter to Ayaotollahs and sent it. It didn't kill me. No. Actually I feel better now. But I am not sure how it is going to help, but I hope it does. I would have liked also to see others here to send their letters instead of talking non sense...Isn't it the least you can do?

Tomorrow, is my younger son's birthday. Tomorrow, I am going to celebrate it with a grain of salt, trying to forget Behnam's eyes, Behnam's angst. But I know. It is going to be hard.

Never mind who I am. There is only one Nader Vanaki. Try to figure out yourself and who the hell you want to be an hour from now.

The So What! comment is not by me. It is the work of Kouroush Sassanian who assumes other people's identity to post his twisted views.

The differenced between my writings and his are very obvious. K.S. does not know punctuation and his vocabulary is limited. Just read his posting. He uses an exclamation mark instead of a question mark. And he has no idea of past or present tense. In a way this is indicative of the state of mind that urges him to post his psychotic ramblings under some one else's identity.

Also, the man or boy is lost in his hatred towards anyone who does not share his oblique view on Iran. My guess is that he left Iran before reaching puberty.

Why are people so upset over a rightful order of execution! He should hang for his crime.
