-- Original posts: These are the main purpose of having blogs. Blogs are your own views and commentaries and notes about life or politics or arts or human rights or... These are most welcome and their hedalines get the best chance of being featured on the front page of iranian.com.
-- Copied content from other sites: Please reduce these to a minimum, one or two every few days. News items should be posted in the News section (unless you have written a major commentary about a particular news item). If you do copy a news item or blog, please make sure the source/author/link is mentioned on the very top and bottom. Sometimes people do not read to the bottom and they are not aware that the piece is written by someone else.
-- Limit your blog posts to 3-4 a day, especially if they do not include your own original content. We want to encourage people to post material that is their own, rather than becoming a bulletin board of material taken from other people.
Thank you :o)

Good for you !
by Souri on Sun Jun 08, 2008 05:44 PM PDTYou said :
"RedWine always manages to find interesting subjects as well so it's hard to complain".....If you find the subjects he posts here "interesting" then good for you !
In our culture and language, we call this action of him "Shaay'eh parakani" and not posting good subjects.
I had a hard time, really hard time holding myself from insulting him on his blog about "Hafez"....How dare he ?
I close this chapter here, as this make me too nervous.
Once in a while
by Jahanshah Javid on Sun Jun 08, 2008 12:42 PM PDTThanks Souri.
RedWine knows that articles should be posted in the news section. But occasionally it's fine to post articles in your blog. And RedWine always manages to find interesting subjects as well so it's hard to complain. As long as this copy/pasting does not happen to often...
So dear JJ
by Souri on Sun Jun 08, 2008 09:19 AM PDTHe send today another copy of a long historical post, again ! What's the purposes of copying and posting the long tread like this while nobody is interested to read them? Can' t them just send the link with 2/3 phrases of explanation ? If we want to read a history's book !! we are capable to find the them and read them at a better moment than when we come here to visit the site and know other people's opinion.

Dear JJ and Rosie
by Samavar (not verified) on Sat Jun 07, 2008 10:03 AM PDTThank you both for your replys. JJ you are as clear as it could be. I understand that there no absolute do's or dont's and I respect that. The only thing that I expect from your wonderfully liberal site is consistnecy. And I know that it takes time. It takes time to get a set of unwritten rules in place that can be followed and enjoyed by everyone.
So, where does this get us? I suppose not exactly where i hoped but at least we are trying aren't we?
Rosie dear, thank you for your helpful comments. Yes, I have seen Jimz's blog but am not quite sure what his point of view is. My comments too were deleted in the past (under a different name) and that upset me a bit. This is why i chose Samaver (persian spelling) as my "name" indicating my boiling over! But now after JJ dignified my question with a reply I feel much better.
Care for an estekan of tea? Anyone?
JJ / Samavar REVISED REVISED REVISED
by Rosie T. on Sat Jun 07, 2008 09:37 AM PDTdo you mean we should limit our blog POSTS or our blog SUBMISSIONS? The former would be difficult for me since, as you know, I am rather talkative.
Samavar, I'm quite interested in JJ's response, and I'd just like you to know that there is a rather lively discussion on this very issue among the READERS and CONTRIBUTORS of the website, on Jimzbund's blog "Noithing is Sacred?", featured below. You may find it interesting to read (or at least scan, as it has become quite lengthy due to my postng a total of one million times on it), and perhaps participate, too.
PS Hmmm...I see JJ has already responded to you, Samavar. Guess our replies crossed. Sorry, jj, didn't mean to post this on top of your reply to Samavar. Would you like to continue all discussion of this here or would you prefer the readers to continue to hash it out on Jimz's? Or both? I fear it would become repetitive and diffuse things if it were both.
Mutual respect
by Jahanshah Javid on Sat Jun 07, 2008 09:23 AM PDTSamavar, it's very simple:
* Refrain from using vulgarity or aggressive, threatening language. SOMETIMES we cannot avoid using a four-letter word here and there, and obviously many posts on this site can make enrage one group or another. But the purpose here is to have a dialogue among ourselves. WE THE PEOPLE. And WE come in various colors and beliefs. We must learn to COMMUNICATE our views without trashing everything about another human being that simply has a different view than ours.
* Instead of attacking authors, tackle the issues presented in their writings.
* You cannot call authors or posters mercenaries, agents of the CIA or the IRI or whatever. Be more imaginative.
* Don't take a detour to Karbala! Stick to the topic of the page.
* Do not copy-paste entire articles as comments. Instead please give the title, author, source and the link of the article you want people to read.
These are all general guidelines. Sometimes harsh, vulgar, threatening, stupid, racist comments do get published. But these are only exceptions.
There are no absolute rules for moderating comments. Editors are all human and they have to make subjective decisions.
We are all doing our best to preserve an atmosphere that encourages civil debate and discussion.
Those of you who got deleted or edited, I'm sorry. I may go too far sometimes. I know I do. But this is a two-way street. You should also look at some of your comments and rethink the way you respond to your opponents or just other human beings.
Let's each of us try to be the bigger, better person. Let's show respect.
Che meedoonam... I really don't have the answer.
Good guidelines !
by ebi amirhosseini on Sat Jun 07, 2008 08:33 AM PDTDear JJ, thanks for reminding !
Great !
by Souri on Sat Jun 07, 2008 08:20 AM PDTThis is very great, JJ. I thank you so much for this clarification of the rules. Recently, the blog section is became a real "harj o marj"....I'm so happy you put an order in this way.
Let's see if everybody understand and respect the rules.
How about some tips on not getting deleted?
by Samavar (not verified) on Sat Jun 07, 2008 08:19 AM PDTYou are quite clear about what to blog and what not to blog but remain vague when it comes to your policy of publishing or deleting comments. Are there any precise rules here or does it depend on your mood on any particular day?
