Are you watching the Australian Open finals between Tsonga and Djokavic? It's the first set, 2-2. It already appears that it's going to be a historic match. Tsonga is my new favorite player. It used to be Federer. But I saw Tsonga crush Nadal in three sets on Thursday and I'm telling you... he's not only a great player but he's also a real crowd pleaser. And everybody has been talking about his amazing resemblance to Mohammad Ali. This guy is going to electrify tennis for many years to come.

My babe Serena
by Jahanshah Javid on Sun Jan 27, 2008 02:21 PM PSTYes Niki,
Djokavic has that boyish Harry Potter look. But his attitude and that of his posse rub me the wrong way. Yeh joori baghiyeh ro aadam nemeedoonan.
And on the women's side, it has become terribly confusing. All these Russians and East Europeans players with similar names and even similar looks. Everybody's name ends in a "vic" or "ova". Geej shodam bekhodaa!
I like Serena Williams the best though. She's my babe :D
It's over Johnny!
by Jahanshah Javid on Sun Jan 27, 2008 01:58 PM PSTParham,
Federer is amazing but it's going to be a tough year for him. The honeymoon is over! It's not just Nadal he has to worry about. There are 3-4 others that could kick his ass too. What an exciting year it's going to be! Let's see how FedEx does. If he ends the season still on top then I'll forgive him being such a bore!
Those pants have to go!
by Jahanshah Javid on Sun Jan 27, 2008 01:47 PM PSTRed Wine,
Nadal is great, yes. But those pants have got to go!
I don't understand: He has sleeve-less shirts to increase his mobility. But don't the long shorts decrese his mobility? He doesn't make sense!
But yeah... great player. He's got to focus more though... he's lost some of his initial drive.
Tsonga = Lucky Lucky Lucky One !
by Red Wine on Sun Jan 27, 2008 10:07 AM PSTTsonga was lucky..Nadal is the best .
Vamos Nadal que eres el mejor :=) .

Hopefully tennis is on its way back
by Niki Tehranchi on Sun Jan 27, 2008 09:52 AM PSTIt kind of died down for a while after being hugely popular in the 70s and 80s. I admire Federer a lot but there is something about Djokovic that draws you to him. A kid from Serbia who practiced tennis in a makeshift tennis court made out of an empty Olympic sized swimming pool while bombs were being dropped on his head. The child of two Olympic skiers who decided to forego the parental path and make one of his own. His very funny and endearing impressions of fellow players like Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova (available on YouTube). He is just the kind of show stopper that may bring tennis back into the headlines. If you watched the U.S. open last year, even though he did not win against Federer in the final, the ovation and sheer love expressed to him by the New York audience (not known for being overly cuddly!) was something very special to see.
Federer
by Parham on Sun Jan 27, 2008 09:38 AM PSTYou guys are already selling Federer out? Just because he didn't win ONE Grand Shelem tournament? :-)
He'll be back
by Jahanshah Javid on Sun Jan 27, 2008 03:58 AM PSTTsonga will be back. Better and less arrogant, hopefully. What an exciting start to the season! Maybe I'll go to Wimbledon this year... hmmm... yet another reason to move to Europe!

by Jahanshah Javid on Sun Jan 27, 2008 03:23 AM PSTShooshi,
Tsonga still has a chance baba. This is championship tennis. These guys don't give us easily.
Different player
by Shooshtartar (not verified) on Sun Jan 27, 2008 03:01 AM PSTTS is getting whipped by DJ now. match is completely turned out and TS is playing nothing like he played against nadal. the new star is going to be DJ i think. last summer he beat nadal and fed back to back, so a totally legit #3 or even #2. lets see what he does on clay... re BD: ping shiva or volak - ill be on the road too. boos.

I thought you would definitely be watching the finals from the stands. Your pix are already too old. You should have sent them while you were there dude! Like your US Open photo essay. Anyway... Tsonga losr the 2nd set... crap! This is going to be one of those great matches. Almost like Boris Becker's first Wimbledon (best game ever).

by Miz Mammad Khodabandeh (not verified) on Sun Jan 27, 2008 01:56 AM PSTI stopped following Tennis when Borg retired. I never forget the competition between him and McEnroe in the laste 1970's and early 1980's.
I used to live in London back then. I don't know, but I kind of feel that this new generation is much to accomplish compared to those guys.
Have Fun
