Facebook is so huge you can't ignore the damn thing. So our team at iranian.com discussed ways of having a presence there. We thought it would be great to offer a game.
Enter Saied Bozorgi-Nesbat. Saied is one of the nicest and smartest people you'll ever meet. I first got to know him through his publication of famous pre-revolution songs and TV advertising jingles almost a decade ago. He's a pop culture "khoreh" in every sense of the word.
Saied recently developed a brilliantly addictive game and immediately attracted our interest. Iran IQ is the fruit of this collaboration. I have no doubt you'll be hooked. (Although I've had no luck with it so far. According to my pathetic score, my IQ is 84, about as smart as a puppy!)
Here's more in Saied's own words:
Iran IQ is a simple game of matching icons and pictures. I created it as a substitute to online games like solitaire that people often play to pass the time.
Yet, this game I think, has many positive side-effects. For one, it sharpens your visual memory. Playing the game pushes you to remember fleeting pictures and their locations. Your score will be kept and compared with the score of your friends as well as the score of others playing it on Facebook. (See Hall of Fame and Friends’ Scores tabs!)
Iran IQ game essentially requires you to click and flip two of 25 cards to find a matching pair. In each round of game, there are 12 hidden pairs to find and match and one single “Haji Firooz” to avoid!
The game works on many levels: First, the pure challenge of finding all the matching pairs before the timer expires. But notice that the more you mistakenly flip the same card over, the faster the timer decreases! So to get the highest score, you should try to remember the cards without having to flip them several times
The game is further made challenging by the presence of the “Haji Firooz” icon that you must avoid, for if you click on it, not only you will be penalized, it will also switch itself with another card. The more you click on this character, the higher the penalty will be!
On another level, I hope that playing with the familiar pictures and icons of Iran will be pleasantly memorable and nostalgic.
Furthermore, the plan is to provide incentives, maybe in the form of prizes, for the people who rank high in each category of this game. These rankings, from time to time will be reset, providing renewed motivation for people to play and score high.

by Anonymous77 (not verified) on Wed Nov 26, 2008 05:51 PM PSTThis is a spin-off of Memory Game. VEry simple game to increase the speed of capacities of kindergarten children. It's based on spatial and pattern recognitions which are essentials in neuro-evolutionary-psychological theories.
You'd have to be dead or in a coma not to recognize ANY pattern. Although even in a coma, there are the possibilities
Even I know this and I'm not a scientist and this sort of test is beyond dumb.
LOOOOOOOOL My IQ is 94
by Anonymous77 (not verified) on Wed Nov 26, 2008 05:37 PM PSTaccording to normal services.
'Haven't even tried this one. Even funnier is that I have more than 3 degrees in totally unrelated subjects, speak 5 languages fluently and play 5 instruments and blah blah blah.
Must be autistic
Going to try this one
my 2 cents
by Monda on Wed Nov 26, 2008 04:36 PM PSTthat IQ game has colorful and cool design but drove me nuts! must be my old age..not as fast at clicking as I used to be! I bet younger kids who're on facebook a lot would get attracted to it. I like the idea of quiz better.
"W" 's IQ was 63, and he became president. Why are you worried !
by Baba on Wed Nov 26, 2008 10:41 AM PSTJJ,
W's IQ of 63 is that of a monkey and still he managed to become president of the greatest country on the face of earth. He is successor AND predecessor to the smartest ever presidents. Why are you so worried?
Baba
Yes, the game is called memory!
by Princess on Wed Nov 26, 2008 09:19 AM PSTThe only difference to the card version is that it gives you a score at the end.

by Anonymous Grandpa (not verified) on Wed Nov 26, 2008 07:12 AM PSTThis is an old card game children used to play. I played it with my children and then grand children, first with cards and then there was digital version of it. All Mr. Bozorgi has done is to use Iranian theme pictures instead of the others.
nice to have
by Orang Gholikhani on Wed Nov 26, 2008 05:35 AM PSTthis game seems nice but I'm not very game so for people like me it would be nice to have other alternative, I've 2 suggestions:
1: what about a quiz about Iran Geo, History and Culture
2: what about publishing from Iranian.com to a facebook group or a wall ?
Cheers.
