Yanni
by Jeesh Daram on Thu Jul 31, 2008 07:48 AM PDTMajid,
Thanks for the video and certainly let's nominate both of them for the Iranian of the day (Yanni's mustche qualifies him).
Here is another video of two of his other violin players. My favorite is the black girl which I would like to nominate for the Khoozestani of The Day and the guy is of course son of famous Rohani, piano player.

I think Yanni and his team went to Iran and put music aside and they all became "besaz-o-befroosh". Each now has build a high rise and sold six unit and owns two.....

by Majid on Wed Jul 30, 2008 04:47 PM PDTI have the DVD of this performance, while it has nothing to do with Kitaro or Silk road, I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.
Please watch the whole thing, even if you don't care for Yanni, "Some people dont"! It's about Samvel Yervanian , the violin player.
And turn your speakers UP.

P.S. Let's make him "Esmaaeel Irvaaniaan" ( Iranian of the day)...LOL

by Jeesh Daram on Tue Jul 29, 2008 10:34 PM PDTnice to see you, indeed your piece of music was very nice to listen to. While Kitaro represents the Far East section of the Silk Road, your Kalhor compliments the midwestern section. We need to find something in between perhaps from Uzbekistan or may be even Toshkent to really feel the "raod".
Kitaro a popular 70's/80's Japanese composer. Here is another piece by him and like Ebi said earlier, all his work have been fine:

A better silky road defined by Kalhor/Yo-Yo Ma
by Azarin Sadegh on Tue Jul 29, 2008 09:48 PM PDTDear JD,
Thanks for the video! I had never heard of Kitaro at all. I expected to hear something from Yo-Yo Ma's Silk road. Something like this:
