Ahmadinejad vs Shah
by Jenab Sarhang

Does any one remember Fall of 1977, White House lawn? If not, let me refresh your memory: His Imperial Majesty, Shahhanshah and Her Imperial Majesty, President Carter, and Mrs. Carter crying because of tear gas to quite Iranian students demonstration against their own monarch! Was then or now Shah that bad? Then there were 250,000 foreign students in the United States, and 50,000 were Iranian, the largest.

That demonstration was then, I assume, still largest demonstration by foreign students and largest demonstration of any kind since Vietnam. Why Iran had so many students there then? Iran had gotten money all the sudden and Shah was not able to build universities that fast, besides in or out of Iran students were his biggest headache as far as political activity. Then not only we had money, we also had political cloud, or at least we did not carry any baggage as we do now, and we could go any where we wanted. Now, compare that situation to now, AhmadiNejad, as far as I can understand it, is as hated as Kings of Ghajar.

Of course, I am not as ignorant as that caller from Andimeshk that said 90% of the people support the government, no there are a big % that I do not know how many who are stupid or get money from the government that support the government, as will be mentioned later.

Today, there are a lot more Iranians in the United States and a lot of them are wealthy and almost all are US citizen and most are not afraid of Iran's present secret police, so today how many Iranians are going to demonstrate against Dr. AhmadiNehjad in New York? Just compare the results?

Dr. Kamrun two nights ago said that change needs to come from inside Iran, and I agreed with him, well, while I was writing this letter, it came to me that then a big part of political opposition and even leader of revolution came from outside! Did they not?! Today we might have all these TV stations and politically smart and well positioned people, but how many foot soldiers in front of UN except a goddess, called Nazanin Afshin Jam?

Well, revolutions are not done by rich people with good paying jobs, it is done by bare footed people who are hungry and really need a better jobs! Except sons of the bitches Mojahedin that almost no one supports, and I can say this by certainty since they went to bed with Saddam, no one is really that hungry to die for his cause since all workers that are covered by Tamin Ejtemaee system get automatic raises of 22% or more that are not willing to die. Worst, today Iranian youth inside are not much different than American lazy bums, these cell phone junkies are not going to raise for their cause, so things will not change unless god intervenes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some food for your thought: yesterday was 21 of god damn Ramadan, well there were hardly any god damn music in any TV station from satellite from overseas, not even in pro Bahaee station! I went for a walk, almost 30% of men, and mostly were young that got my attention had black shirts! This is a god damn religious country, and as long as we are like this we should not expect any better.

What god damn comee or otherwise said that religion is opium for brain. This religion in particular is against free thinking!

Which one is more important

by Ex Student Demonstrator (not verified) on

I went to Washington D.C. demonstration in 1977 with a group of students who were more of the violent type. They were the ones with placards made of wooden handles and heavy cardboards for signs, which were later used as clubs and shields against the horse mounted policemen. Once the mayhem broke out we attacked the police and they attacked us, and there were tear gas everywhere. I even picked up one of those sticks and waved it in the air because I was mad as hell and mob mentality had taken over the situation. Everything was based on emotion once the chaos began till the organizers got everone under control again.

Many of the organizers were ideologically brain washed, and the rest were innocent young students in their twenties who wanted to change Shah's regime for the better. No one, I mean no one had any idea WHAT SO EVER in what direction the country was heading eventually.

I have wondered about the visits by Ahmadinejad versus Shah’s visit many times before, and to me the difference is the threat of invasion of Iran by foreign forces. It has happened since 1977 and there is big possibility that it will happen again. Back then I don’t think I was ever worried that Iran would be invaded by anybody, but now it is either USA, Israel, or any of the Arabian countries that might do it. To me, my love for Iran is more important than my hate for IRI regime. That’s the reason that prevents me from participating in any large-scale demonstrations against Ahmadinejad’s visits.

For those of you who think Iranians made the revolution possible, they need to read the book Hostage to Khomeini by Richard Dreyfuss to find out how he came to power.

Keyvan Talebi

Jaleho is not a Hezbollahi

by Keyvan Talebi on

Jaleho is actually a very bright person. She has an advanced degree
in physics. Unfortunately she has a very extreme leftist view of
things (as a result of her education in leftist colleges in the
Boston area).  Her views are actually very disgusting as far as
I'm concerned. She thinks alot like a Norman Finkelstein and the other
retard from MIT Noam Chomsky.  These guys hate America with a
passion so they will support anything anti American. This is why you
get her supporting the IRI and all of its "accomplishments"
and "advancements" which to an ordinary Iranian (or any
human) are non existent.

Fortunately, Iranians are much smarter these days to fall for this
crap.

Mr. Kadivar, you are a true Iranian patriot. Thank you for all your postings. Thank you for confronting evil with clarity and class!

We Iranians have allowed a

by ... (not verified) on

We Iranians have allowed a bunch of right wing, violent, religious fundamentalist Islamofascists to take our country, our pride, our resources, our national wealth, and our heritage hostage. The Islamofascist couldn't care less about Iran. Their main concern is to promote violence and ruling the world by the sword of Islam; country and people be damned as long Islam take over the world.

Aghaye Kadivar: Don't mind

by Aabtin (not verified) on

Aghaye Kadivar:

Don't mind Jaleho. We are used to this person's venom around here. They hate being called hezbollahis, but feel at liberty to label others as they go along.I don't see why being a monarchist is an insult because some people are, just like being a hezbollahi,a liberal or whatever.

Don't worry about the "plastic key" statement Jaleho just made about you. It's a standard line he/she has used in the past against other people too. That line and arguement is one also used by Jaleho's other like-minded friends on the site, their 'ace in the hole' against people who disagree with them. This is where most of us have an issue with people who think like Jaleho. They have hijacked ownership and pride in Iran and Iran's martyrs, talking down to the rest of us whenever they feel threatened by different points of view. What are Iran's martyrs to Jaelho and alike?Nothing, just a means to promote their own ideology.Jaleho would do good to go to Iran and to visit the remaining war veterans rotting away in their homes because they can't get suitable medical care and welfare payments to cover their most basic needs and expenses.Don't let this type of talk affect you, Mr. Kadivar.

I may disagree with your politics Mr.Kadivar, but I have no doubt that you love Iran and want Iran to change for the better. The problem I have with the likes of Jaleho is that in their haste to defend the IRI and and all its policies and attacking other Iran loving people just because they have different politics, they are willing to defend a regime that leaves major doubt in my mind about its loyalty and capability to serve the best intrests of Iranian people. This unfortunately, is stuff treason and traitors are made of.

I think Jaleho is also aware of this. That's why Jaleho writes anonymously, to protect him/herself if and when it is time to look at those traitors. Most other people, such as myself, may write with anonymous names to protect ourselves and our families from a regime which has proven time and again would go after people's families to persecute them for their opinions. Why would a person like Jaleho who is constantly singing their praises want to be anonymous.Surely Jaleho knows about freedom of expression in this country?!I think Jaleho is worried about the future.

Jaleho may be quick-witted and his/her venom might sting hard, but to those of us who have heard their rhetoric and stances, Jaleho and his/her friends are not terribly bright.

Thank you for your frank and clear response. I lived 24 years in France and I would have enjoyed to be delighted by your point of views autour d'un bon vin dans un bar-café. Espérons qu'un jour nous puissions nous revoir dans notre pays natal avec la liberté de dire et de boire à nos santés.

Sincerly yours.

Darius Kadivar

Jahel Jan Thank you ;0)

by Darius Kadivar on

Dear Jahel Jan,

Thank you for your support.

Jahel I never claimed any Royal solution no more have I despised the Republican one ... On the contrary I have at best supported the idea of a coalition or something of an Iranian Solidarnosc  type of coalition that would regroup all democratic forces and support civil society in Iran and in the Diaspora. That I may have a political preference or conviction is I believe a right that is granted to any free thinking citizen. Unless it is forbidden to think in our society then I believe I should also make my luggages and go to NeverLand once more. It is incredible how much all these Hezbollahis seem to propagate hatred and anger on this site than anything else. As if more than 30 years of Crimes were not enough and they are still boasting their so called "Glorious and Just" revolution that has brought our country anything but death and destruction. And I am also to be blamed for the death of a million of our compatriots during the Iran Iraq war that ended some 20 years ago ? ... ABSURD LOGIC ...

I would simply like to say that

 1) I have never imposed my views on anyone. Some People ( Particularly Hezbollahis ) see me as a monarchist or staunch monarchist when in fact I am first and foremost a Constitutionalist. But when I am provoked I don't see why I should not answer back ? Usually with some humor which does not seem to be appreciated by  our dear Jelly Bean anonymous Hezbollahi on this thread.

2) Second I do not see why Nazanin Afshin Jam should be attacked for my views and simply because I am supporting her campaign as a free thinking citizen with no political agenda ( which does not stop me from having my preferences and do not see why I should feel ashamed to express it in the light of the day and with my fully registered name and photo unlike some here). As far as I am concerned I don't see that she is defending any political point of view but a humanitarian one in this case help stop execution of minors in her country and beyond.

3) I do not see however HOW and WHY we Iranians tend to reject any information on the past as if it will come out and hit us in the face. I got similar attacks when helping create the pictory section on the iranian.com which I believe has been particularly appreciated and useful to everyone since I have never tried to be dogmatic or try to misinform anyone in regard to these documents. Since I even included a section regarding Human Rights violations under equally the Monarchy ( Pahlavi and Qajar) as well as the Islamic Republic.

//iranian.com/pictory.html

It is amazing that whenever one claims to any information regarding our Royal Heritage one is immediately brandished as a traitor or worst is asked to even excuse oneself for offering insightful information.

If the Republican point of view ( which I respect) has to display the same level of intolerance in regard to our history, heritage and logical argumentation we are truly badly off when it comes to democratic ideals and tolerance. Nation Building is not possible without a clear and unbiaised look at the past.

I have repeatedly said that we should not be afraid of looking back at the past because History does not repeat itself but it does rhyme. Otherwise then we should enthusiastically open our arms to historical revisionisms of the most dangerous kinds.

That is why I have tried to convey the importance of supporting ANY Initiative that enforces our Civil Society be it in the Diaspora or in IRan.

I would like to see the same openmindedness from fellow Republican friends and Mossadeghis than the regular lot ( a minority I believe ) who can only indulge in personal attacks and insults.

I don't think that this behaviour is what the majority of our fellow Iranians would like to see displayed in our country which according to Mr or MRS. Jaleho is a perfectly democratic State and we should close our eyes on such minor incidents as these :

//iranian.com/main/singlepage/2008/hejab-police

Sorry I simply don't buy it.

LAST AND NOT LEAST: Mr or MRS. Jaleho is accusing me of something I have never expressed and that is making fun of the Martyrs of the revolution or the poor kids sent to death with a plastic key. WHAT IS HE OR SHE TALKING ABOUT I WONDER ?

In anycase thank you for your very civil response.

Warm Regards,

Darius KADIVAR

Jaleho and Mr. Kadivar

by Jahel (not verified) on

Jaleho: What's wrong to propagate the wave of dissatisfaction as our country is at the edge of asphyxiation? We have to do something no? Till now, these b.st.rds have manhandled people and nobody said something either by fear of reprisals or by laziness. Now things are different, we can not afford to sit on our fat a.. and watch the beast devour the foundation of our culture. If you are such a guy, you're a traitor to your nation.

Mr. Kadivar: I don't believe that the solution to our problem is a monarchy. I don't believe because it would lead to the same Point de départ than now. Our solution is a democratic republic with people deciding of their destiny. But I join my voice to yours as an opposition to these archaic regime. Otherwise, I would like to ask you to put the link of your videos instead of using the magic command I can assure that it has the same effect with an advantage that it becomes easy to navigate across comments. thanks
