Hi Yolanda Jan

by yolanda on Mon Jul 19, 2010 03:58 PM PDTThank you for your blog and link....I voted yesterday morning....I wanted to vote again, but it is not allowed.......one year ago, Islamic Solidarity Games was cancelled in Iran 'cause Saudi Arabia asked Iran to remove "Persian Gulf" from the games' medals and brochures. I read this article more than a year ago:
//www.payvand.com/news/09/apr/1339.html
Highlights of the article:
Former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami stated on Wednesday that the name of the Persian Gulf can never be changed. "The Persian Gulf's name has been deeply ingrained in the culture of every Iranian and is unalterable," he said on the sidelines of the seminar on the Persian Gulf.
He added, "According to the historical documents and international law, there is no doubt that the Persian Gulf is the Persian Gulf and no one can change this historical fact."
Dear Divaneh
by khaleh mosheh on Mon Jul 19, 2010 10:34 AM PDTThanks for your clarification-as always its very well reasoned.
I like your purse analogy but my concern was that if the vote was overwhelming towards Arabian gulf then it gives the anti-persian gulf arabs supported by large amount of petrodollars to continue to try and justify their undeserved claims. To go back to the purse analogy, if I steal your purse and bribe a shop keeper to forge a receipt that I bought it, I will strengthen my claim on the purse that rightfully belongs to you. Dishonest but if I get away with a valuble purse then you will be the loser.
In any case the voting is currently 2:1 in favour of Persian Gulf so looks like in this instance we are doing OK.
By the way thanks for the information on the imbecile Homam Alghorani. Looks like a real poser-here are his facebook 'fan site';

Shame facebook doesnt have a dislike button!
Dear Khaleh Mosheh
by divaneh on Sun Jul 18, 2010 06:08 PM PDTArabs can vote as much as they want. This is like me stealing your purse and then say let's vote and see who should have it.
This is not even Google. The site is not a google site and is registered by a little idiot called Homam Alghorani. Here are the registrant details.

I also think that it is illegal for Google or any other company to change the name of a geographical entity with or without a vote and they must be aware of the actions that can ensue.
no one should vote
by khaleh mosheh on Sun Jul 18, 2010 10:01 AM PDTDear Divaneh- whilst I see where you are coming from- what happens if we dont vote but the Arabs do?
No one should vote
by divaneh on Sun Jul 18, 2010 07:33 AM PDTIf the names could be changed by votes, then every sea in the world would be called China Sea. The Persian Gulf has a name and there is no vote. To take part in any vote as such is to accept the name change claim.
How about calling it "BP Golf" or the "Shell Golf"
by fooladi on Sun Jul 18, 2010 07:24 AM PDTAfter all they own it.
از بین بردن نامهای ایرانی
khaleh moshehSun Jul 18, 2010 07:01 AM PDT
Dear Mr Ghiassi
I do agree the best form of defence is offence and as such it is a good idea to go for the sea of oman and the arabian sea and petition for them to be named differently. The names you mentioned are they prior historical Persian names for these seas or the names you mentioned are some suggestions/examples?
Best wishes
سالهاست عربها در پی از بین بردن نامهای ایرانی هستند.
Amir Sahameddin GhiassiSun Jul 18, 2010 06:27 AM PDT
Why we should not do the same for the Iranian Seas.
by Amir Sahameddin Ghiassi on Sun Jul 18, 2010 05:41 AM PDTThe Arabs have two seas in their name. Darya Oman and Arabian Sea, why we should not do the same and change those name to Iranian Sea and sea of Khoransan. or Arayana.
