Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor died today at the age of 79, her publicist, Sally Morrison, says. The actress died of congestive heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
"All her children were with her," Morrison said.
Taylor won three Oscars, including a special one for her humanitarian work, but was tortured by ill health, failed romances and personal tragedy.
"I think I'm becoming fatalistic," she said in 1989. "Too much has happened in my life for me not to be fatalistic."

Casting couch?
by Doctor mohandes on Wed Mar 23, 2011 07:05 PM PDTIranian 123
Wat is a casting couch?
you used it in two different contexts. at firsti thought you meant to say that she was not into sleeping around and "married" men whom she dates but then you used it to emphasize the fact that she was actually talented.
Can you Lighten the subject for me? What is the current finally?:))
Dame Elizabeth's life
by Layli on Wed Mar 23, 2011 05:21 PM PDTDear Anahid, you can find all about her life here on bbc persian:

Iranian123, it is great that you have seen her best work
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Mar 23, 2011 03:04 PM PDTI know she has done some great movies but unfortunately, I have not watched them. But she indeed was a natural beauty. One unfortunate point was that she did not stay beautiful in ler later years while Sofia Loren has stayed beautiful much longer. In any case, so many people around world knew her and admired her beauty and those like you who saw her best work, admired her talent also.

by Iranian123 on Wed Mar 23, 2011 02:56 PM PDTI am not an expert on Dame Elizabeth's life and career, so forgive me if I don't know the answer to your questions, but what I admire about her is that she did not just trade on her beauty. And she rose to fame due to talent, not the Casting Couch. She was also so lucky enough not to have needed any plastic surgery, Monroe and many others were 'constructed' beauties, they had plastic surgery before they became famous. I really like the natural beauties like Taylor, Lee Remick, Sophia Loren ... And she did serious roles, she was an actress first.
Dear Iranian123, thanks for your comment
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Mar 23, 2011 02:32 PM PDTand please go on. Wasn't she married to Senator Warner for a while in 80s? and can you name all the others? twice to love of her life. Also she married Eddie Fisher who was previously Debbie Reynolds husband. Is that right or am I getting the stars mixed up?
What a life, what a woman
by Iranian123 on Wed Mar 23, 2011 02:07 PM PDTShe was the only screen siren Monroe was jealous of, because apart from her astonishing natural beauty she had talent. She was a versatile actress, not just a pinup. And she married all the men she dated, so no Casting couches for her. I could go on and on.
RIP Ms. Taylor
by Anahid Hojjati on Wed Mar 23, 2011 12:29 PM PDTI think DM said it best. By the time I was at movie going age, Elizabeth Taylor's best work was behind her but I grew up hearing about her since she was a symbol of beauty in my parents' generation. RIP Elizabeth.
RIP
