In 1637 about 700 men, women and children of the Pequot Tribe had gathered for their annual Green Corn Festival. That is what they call our Thanksgiving celebration. In the early morning hours the sleeping Indians were surrounded by English and Dutch mercenaries. It is said they then ordered them to come outside. Those who came out were shot and clubbed to death. Indian women and children were burned alive inside their Teepees as they huddled together in fear. The next day the governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony declared "A Day Of Thanksgiving" because about 700 unarmed men, women and children had been murdered. Sadly that is the story of Thanksgiving that has been documented in many places and it is the facts that they try to hide from Americans. Since I was in grade school and heard so much about American Indians it made me look into it as a child. I found truth and facts about what really happened and always hated thanksgiving. In school I tried to tell people about Thanksgiving and how it was a lie. Even to this day many american people are like sheep and follow the lies and each other. I do not dig usa ways and wish the Indians won and kept the land and animals safe.

Now that you are also a hypocrite given your reponse from the initial points raised also goes without saying -- and now you've proven it again. Finally, unless you have anything of value to contribute beyond your silly mollycuddled Tehrangeles point of view, kindly in the future do not respond to my blogs.

Now go "expose" some Baha'is.
Your position
by Nur-i-Azal on Sat Nov 28, 2009 05:31 PM PSTIs typically representative of the core hypocrisy and disengenuous morality of the North American sub-culture of Tehrangeles type Iranians. Thanksgiving in its truth represents a celebration of the white man's invasion and genocide against the Native population of the Americas. You North American Iranians are currently living on their land while complaining about a nation that invaded your land 1400 years ago. What is illogical about demanding consistency from Iranians in North America about recognizing the truth behind Thanksgiving and boycotting it? And what is illogical about pointing out that if you complain about Qadisiya then, for consistencies sake, you must also complain about the genocide of the native populations of the Americas whose lands you are currently living on? There is nothing illogical here. What is illogical is to tie a demand about Muslims relinquishing whatever, when the responsibility is for you people to have solidarity with the Native Americans.
Note Jared Diamond is considered, at best, to be a mediocre theoretician regarding the origin of human societies. Try Jean Gebser and his Ever Present Origin for a far more engaging and complex read, if you are capable of even getting your head around it.
And it is spelled PIZARRO. FYI
While it's true
by Anonymous Observer on Sat Nov 28, 2009 07:06 AM PSTthat atrocities were committed against native Americans, especially by the likes of Pissaro, asking people to do away with Thanksgiving in protest will be akin to asking Muslims around the world to do away with their religion because, as you alluded, Islam was spread using the same inhumane tactics. So, what you demand is illogical.
BTW, for a good read about the development of human societies, which touches upon what you talk about here, I suggest you read Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond.

Thanksgiving for what?

Thanks for the link to the Counterpunch article
by DW Duke on Fri Nov 27, 2009 08:04 AM PSTIt is true that the settlers were horribly brutal to the Native Americans. As late as the end of the 19th Century Native Americans were victims of genocide. Even as late as the Nixon administration there was a policy of assimilating them and destroying their tribal affiliations which is the reason Native Americans took control of the prison at Alcatraz in protest. Thanks for the link to the Counterpunch article.
Thank you Manouchehr khan
by Nur-i-Azal on Thu Nov 26, 2009 11:50 PM PSTThe Native Americans are an amazing, amazing people, and much, much wrong has been done to them. Iranians in North America almost have a duty to reach out to these noble, original inhabitants of the land they are living on now. I did it when I lived there, and I've done the same here in Australia with the indigenous Australian Aborigines as well. These native peoples, all of them, have a profoundly deep spiritual culture and understanding of things like traditional Iranians do and there is also a lot of commonality in how traditional Iranians and especially Native Americans perceive the greater picture. If Iranians in North America realized the truth about Thanksgiving and what really happened and reached out in solidarity to the Native Americans, light upon light could literally happen!
Note as well that like the people's of the Middle East the Native Americans also had holy prophet-messengers sent to them by the Great Spirit, two of whom we know about very well: Deganawida and the White Buffalo Calf Woman.

Because
by Nur-i-Azal on Thu Nov 26, 2009 09:40 PM PSTThe narrative is recounted in countless recent historical studies, like this one,
//www.counterpunch.org/cohen11272003.html
And others, and it is also told verbatim by the Native Americans themselves, whose oral histories, in my opinion, count for a lot more than the shameless myths and whitewashed lies peddled by the white man in his schools when brainwashing his children to forgot about the crimes of his forefathers. That is how I know.
Now if Iranians want to complain about the Arabs and Qadisiya, perhaps they need to be consistent and feel solidarity for the original inhabitants of the Americas (not to mention Australasia) whose culture and way of life was completely destroyed by a largely parasitic and destructive invader, far worse than the Arabs in relation to Iranians, such as the white European. The fist place to start is to boycott en masse the celebration of the so-called Thanksgiving holiday: a holiday analogous to a situation where if the Germans had won the war and created a national holiday celebrating the Final Solution of the Jews. But unfortunately North American Iranians seem to be sponges and creatures of hype, so one shouldn't hold ones breath for this to happen any time soon.
Thanksgiving Myths
