There are only four more days until the crucial contests in Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island. With close races predicted in all four states, every vote counts.

From the beginning, this movement has been about more than giant crowds and non-stop campaigning under the media glare. This movement has been about ordinary people reaching out to talk to family, friends, neighbors – and yes, even strangers – one person at a time.

No matter where you are, you can help make a difference this weekend.

Call or email your friends and family in these states and encourage them to vote for Obama this Tuesday.

We’re also asking our supporters all across the country to use our online phonebanking tools to make one million calls to potential voters by Tuesday.

Whether you can help for one hour or one night from home , whether you can make 10 calls or one hundred calls or even a 1000, this is your chance to help make a difference.

Obama?

by Anonymous4now on

"It can be a year of inspiration and hope, and it will be a year of concern, of quiet and sober reassessment of our nation’s character and purpose. It has already been a year when voters have confounded the experts. And I guarantee you that it will be the year when we give the government of this country back to the people of this country. There is a new mood in America. We have been shaken by a tragic war abroad and by scandals and broken promises at home. Our people are searching for new voices and new ideas and new leaders.

Although government has its limits and cannot solve all our problems, we Americans reject the view that we must be reconciled to failures and mediocrity, or to an inferior quality of life. For I believe that we can come through this time of trouble stronger than ever. Like troops who have been in combat, we have been tempered in the fire; we have been disciplined, and we have been educated.

Guided by lasting and simple moral values, we have emerged idealists without illusions, realists who still know the old dreams of justice and liberty, of country and of community. This year we have had thirty state primaries--more than ever before—making it possible to take our campaign directly to the people of America: to homes and shopping centers, to factory shift lines and colleges, to beauty parlors and barbershops, to farmers’ markets and union halls.

This has been a long and personal campaign—a humbling experience, reminding us that ultimate political influence rests not with the power brokers but with the people. This has been a time of tough debate on the important issues facing our country. This kind of debate is part of our tradition, and as Democrats we are heirs to a great tradition.”

Obama?  Not really.  That was an excerpt form Jimmy Carter's acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention, in 1976.

How much do you know about Obama?

by Anonymous4now on

From the September 24, 2004 edition of the Chicago Tribune:

September 25, 2004

U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama suggested Friday that the United States one day might have to launch surgical missile strikes into Iran and Pakistan to keep extremists from getting control of nuclear bombs.

Obama, a Democratic state senator from the Hyde Park neighborhood, made the remarks during a meeting Friday with the Tribune editorial board. Obama’s Republican opponent, Alan Keyes, was invited to attend the same session but declined.

Iran announced on Tuesday that it has begun converting tons of uranium into gas, a crucial step in making fuel for a nuclear reactor or a nuclear bomb. The International Atomic Energy Agency has called for Iran to suspend all such activities.

Obama said the United States must first address Iran’s attempt to gain nuclear capabilities by going before the United Nations Security Council and lobbying the international community to apply more pressure on Iran to cease nuclear activities. That pressure should come in the form of economic sanctions, he said.

But if those measures fall short, the United States should not rule out military strikes to destroy nuclear production sites in Iran, Obama said.

“The big question is going to be, if Iran is resistant to these pressures, including economic sanctions, which I hope will be imposed if they do not cooperate, at what point are we going to, if any, are we going to take military action?” Obama asked.

Given the continuing war in Iraq, the United States is not in a position to invade Iran, but missile strikes might be a viable option, he said. Obama conceded that such strikes might further strain relations between the U.S. and the Arab world.

“In light of the fact that we’re now in Iraq, with all the problems in terms of perceptions about America that have been created, us launching some missile strikes into Iran is not the optimal position for us to be in,” he said.

On the other hand, having a radical Muslim theocracy in possession of nuclear weapons is worse. So I guess my instinct would be to err on not having those weapons in the possession of the ruling clerics of Iran. … And I hope it doesn’t get to that point. But realistically, as I watch how this thing has evolved, I’d be surprised if Iran blinked at this point.”

As for Pakistan, Obama said that if President Pervez Musharraf were to lose power in a coup, the United States similarly might have to consider military action in that country to destroy nuclear weapons it already possesses. Musharraf’s troops are battling hundreds of well-armed foreign militants and Pakistani tribesmen in increasingly violent confrontations.

Obama said that violent Islamic extremists are a vastly different brand of foe than was the Soviet Union during the Cold War, and they must be treated differently.

“With the Soviet Union, you did get the sense that they were operating on a model that we could comprehend in terms of, they don’t want to be blown up, we don’t want to be blown up, so you do game theory and calculate ways to contain,” Obama said. “I think there are certain elements within the Islamic world right now that don’t make those same calculations.

“… I think there are elements within Pakistan right now–if Musharraf is overthrown and they took over, I think we would have to consider going in and taking those bombs out, because I don’t think we can make the same assumptions about how they calculate risks.”

A last resort

Obama’s willingness to consider additional military action in the Middle East comes despite his early and vocal opposition to the Iraq war. Obama, however, also has stressed that he is not averse to using military action as a last resort, although he believes that President Bush did not make that case for the Iraq invasion…

Also during the session, Obama said that, if elected, he likely would make the health-care crisis his first priority. He said he would seek to expand the federal program that gives aid to poor children without health coverage, improve the COBRA program to allow for greater portability of coverage, and push for small businesses to receive tax credits to help pay for employee health insurance.

Views on gay marriage

Earlier Friday, Obama clarified his position on gay marriage after several days of criticism from [GOP Senate candidate Alan] Keyes on the issue. Keyes, a vehement opponent of gay marriage who has called homosexuals “selfish hedonists,” charged during a campaign swing Downstate this week that Obama favors gay marriage.

But during a taping of WBBM-AM’s “At Issue,” Obama said that his Christian faith dictates that marriage should be between a man and woman.

“I’m a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman,” Obama said.

Obama said he would not let his religious beliefs dictate the way he approaches public policy. He said he would supports civil unions between gay and lesbian couples, as well as letting individual states determine if marriage between gay and lesbian couples should be legalized.

“Giving them a set of basic rights would allow them to experience their relationship and live their lives in a way that doesn’t cause discrimination,” Obama said. “I think it is the right balance to strike in this society.”

Will Obama – Literally – Survive?
Current Events Joan Swirsky, Featured Writer
February 29, 2008

According to a recent article in the Associated Press, “Many Blacks Worry About Obama's Safety,” because for “many black Americans, it's a conversation they find hard to avoid, revisiting old fears in the light of bright new hopes. Is he at risk? Will he be safe?”

Citing still-extant racism and the assassinations of too many African-American heroes – President John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert, and Martin Luther King, Jr. – the article quotes Edna Medford, a history professor at Washington’s Howard University: “You can't have lived through the civil rights movement and know something about the history of African-Americans in this country and not be a little concerned."

The AP article said that Obama received Secret Service protection last May – the earliest ever for any presidential candidate. Democrat Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin was among those recommending this service because he had received “information, some with racial overtones,” that made him concerned for Obama's safety.

But Obama, apparently unconcerned about the threat of assassination, told TV host Tavis Smiley that MLK “didn't have Secret Service protection…I can't even comprehend the degree of courage that was required, and look what he did."

The assassination theme also found its way to the front page of The New York Times, “In Painful Past, Hushed Worry About Obama.”

“It’s not something that I’m spending time thinking about day to day,” said Mr. Obama, who has been given the Secret Service name Renegade, a way for agents to quickly identify him. I think anybody who decides to run for president recognizes that there are some risks involved, just like there are risks in anything.”

Is Racial Fear Still Warranted?

Like Professor Medford, I too lived through the racist era of the 1960s, when not only John and Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King were assassinated, but also Malcolm X, an inspiring hero to the black community.

But since then, it is clear that the attitudes, feelings, opinions and voting patterns of Americans have undergone a sea change, thanks in large part to our current president, George W. Bush, who has appointed more African-American and Hispanic people to high government positions than any president in American history.

This goes a long way in explaining why Sen. Obama has swept the East, West, North and South in 11 primaries, garnering votes that were said to be the exclusive domain of his white women opponent, Hillary Clinton – i.e., white women, Hispanics, single mothers, the list goes on. Yes, the white woman who is married to the “first black president” – the same guy who outed himself as a racist in Hillary’s South Carolina losing primary.

No, Obama doesn’t have to fear assassination by racists in America. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t forces “out there” trying their best to abort his run for the presidency.

The Eerie Dallas Episode

Last week – in Dallas of all places, the venue of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination – Obama was at a huge rally of 17,000 people in the Reunion Arena when police were told to stop screening people for weapons.

As Jack Douglas Jr. reported in the Star-Telegram, Obama’s security detail was ordered by the U.S. Secret Service to “put down the metal detectors and stop checking purses and laptop bags [which] came as a surprise to several Dallas police officers who said they believed it was a lapse in security. Dallas Deputy Police Chief T.W. Lawrence, head of the Police Department's homeland security and special operations divisions, said the order…was meant to speed up the long lines outside and fill the arena's vacant seats before Obama came on.”

People who started pouring in at 10 a.m. were screened, Douglas said, “but about 11 a.m., an order came down (my emphasis) to allow the people in without being checked. Several Dallas police officers said it worried them that the arena was packed with people who got in without even a cursory inspection.”

Immediately upon being accused of this lapse in security, the Secret Service went into defensive mode, telling Douglas that there was no "lapse" in its "comprehensive and layered security plan," which called for some people to be checked for weapons, while others were not…[and] there were no security lapses.” But a person who had attended another Obama mega-event in Boston said the same thing happened there.

My question: Who gave that order to the Secret Service? What was the exact name of that obviously high-ranking person? This is important because a major decision like this has to come from one person, not a committee. Who is that person? What are his ties or debts, if any, to the Clintons?

No less than the ultra-liberal journalist Mike Barnicle, former star reporter for The Boston Globe, told MSNBC that, “The Clintons will stop at nothing to win.”

Bubba’s Fingerprints

I ask who is the Secret Service person who gave the order to NOT check all the people at Obama’s events because of the multitude of national security leaks to The New York Times over the past few years that have drastically undermined our intelligence services and our military – not to mention anyone who has challenged Bill Clinton’s wife, who he clearly sees as the only person who can redeem his legacy, vis-à-vis their own and their surrogates exquisite historical revisionism.

▪ The overblown Abu Ghraib “torture” report that equated some relatively minor excesses of our troops with the savage beheadings and wanton murders of Al Qaeda. “There is no excuse for that [Abu Ghraib]", Bill Clinton told CNN.

▪ The bogus report, intended to undermine the president’s decision to go to war in Iraq, of former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, special assistant to Bill Clinton. Wilson concluded – surprise, surprise – that Iraq had not purchased “yellow cake,” the all-important precursor to nuclear power, from Niger. He said that President Bush had “exaggerated the Iraqi threat.”

▪ The equally bogus Valerie Plame “outing” that ultimately revealed Plame had had a desk job for six years, which was followed by this “private” person’s decision to go gleefully public with her husband in Vanity Fair magazine.

▪ The unproven Rendition reports, in which the U.S. supposedly whisks high-profile terrorists out of our country for savage interrogations, a practice – or, um, non-practice – that began under Bill Clinton.

▪ The National Intelligence Estimate report of 2007, which, as it turned out, lied about Iran’s stopping its nuclear-weapons program in 2003, but which Bill Clinton’s surrogate Hillary took the opportunity to say was yet another excess of the Bush administration.

▪ The über-laudatory book reviews of inferior and factually inaccurate books that just happened to excoriate our president.

On and on and on!

Where did this information come from? Who was the person most invested in not only undermining the president but also in paving the way for his replacement?

My “guess” is none other than the Clintons, who (1) have been planning their socialization of America for decades, (2) are about the only people in America with the kind of deep ties to the moles in the State Department, the Defense Department, and the slavering media that could help them actualize their goals, and (3) are desperate to erase Bill Clinton’s shabby legacy with one that only a Hillary presidency could bring about.

Can Obama Survive The Clintons?

Anyone on the Internet has instant access to the weird deaths by “suicide” and “accident” to which this avaricious couple has been linked. If you consider the entire list, or cut it in half, or pare it down to two or three deaths, it is a chilling picture.

Here is but a small – and I mean small – sampling. Significantly, the liberal media have never investigated these still-unresolved questions. You can by looking up each case.

▪ James McDougal, Clinton's convicted Whitewater partner, died of an apparent heart attack while in solitary confinement. He was a key witness in Ken Starr's investigation.

▪ Mary Mahoney, a former White House intern was murdered July 1997 at a Starbucks Coffee Shop in Georgetown. The murder happened just after she was to go public with her story of sexual harassment in the White House.

▪ Vince Foster, former White House counselor and colleague of Hillary Clinton at Little Rock's Rose law firm, died of a gunshot wound to the head: ruled a suicide, in spite of no blood on the scene. Forensic evidence was subsequently “lost.”

▪ Ron Brown, Secretary of Commerce and former DNC Chairman, was reported to have died by impact in a plane crash, but a pathologist close to the investigation reported that there was a hole in the top of Brown's skull resembling a gunshot wound. At the time of his death Brown was being investigated and spoke publicly of his willingness to cut a deal with prosecutors

▪ Victor Raiser II and Montgomery Raiser, both major players in the Clinton fundraising organization, died in a private plane crash in July 1992.

▪ Paul Tulley, Democratic National Committee Political Director, found dead in a hotel room in Little Rock in September 1992.

▪ Ed Willey, a Clinton fundraiser, was found dead November 1993 in the deep woods in Virginia of a gunshot wound to the head. Ruled a suicide. Ed Willey died on the same day his wife Kathleen Willey claimed Bill Clinton groped her in the oval office in the White House.

▪ Jerry Parks, head of Clinton's gubernatorial security team in Little Rock, was gunned down in his car at a deserted intersection outside Little Rock. Park's son said his father was building a dossier on Clinton and allegedly threatened to reveal this information. After he died the files were mysteriously removed from his house.

▪ James Wilson was found dead in May 1993 from an apparent hanging suicide. He was reported to have ties to Whitewater.

▪ Kathy Ferguson, ex-wife of Arkansas Trooper Danny Ferguson, died in May 1994 and was found dead in her living room with a gunshot to her head. It was ruled a suicide. Danny Ferguson was a codefendant along with Bill Clinton in the Paula Jones lawsuit. Kathy Ferguson was alleged to have been a corroborating witness for Paula Jones.

▪ Bill Shelton, an Arkansas State Trooper, was engaged to Kathy Ferguson and was critical of the suicide ruling. He was found dead in June 1994, of a gunshot wound that was also ruled a suicide

Gandy Baugh, attorney for Clinton friend Dan Lassater, died by jumping out a window of a tall building January, 1994. His client was a convicted drug distributor.

▪ Florence Martin, an accountant subcontractor for the CIA, was related to the Barry Seal Mena Airport drug-smuggling case. She died of three gunshot wounds.

▪ Suzanne Coleman reportedly had an affair with Clinton when he was Arkansas Attorney General. She was pregnant when she died of a gunshot wound to the back of the head – ruled a suicide

Paula Grober was Clinton's speech interpreter for the deaf from 1978 until her death December 9, 1992, when she died in a one-car accident.

▪ Danny Casolaro, an investigative reporter who was looking into the Mena Airport and Arkansas Development Finance Authority, apparently slit his wrists while in the middle of his investigation.

Paul Wilcher, a lawyer investigating corruption at Mena Airport with Casolaro and the 1980 "October Surprise," was found dead on a toilet June 22, 1993, in his Washington D.C. apartment. He had delivered a report to Janet Reno three weeks before his death.

▪ Jon Parnell Parker, a Whitewater investigator for Resolution Trust Corp., jumped to his death from his Arlington, Virginia, apartment balcony on August 15, 1993. He was investigating the Morgan Guarantee scandal.

▪ Barbara Wise, a Commerce Department staff person, worked closely with Ron Brown and John Huang. Her bruised nude body was found locked in her office at the Department of Commerce on Nov. 29, 1996. Cause of death: unknown.

▪ Charles Meissner, Assistant Secretary of Commerce who gave John Huang special security clearance, died shortly thereafter in a small plane crash.

▪ Stanley Huggins, who investigated Madison Guarantee, died by suicide. His report was never released.

▪ Hershell Friday, a lawyer and Clinton fundraiser, died March 1, 1994 when his plane exploded.

Kevin Ives and Don Henry were known as "The boys on the track." Reports say the boys may have stumbled upon the Mena Arkansas airport drug operation, a controversial case where initial report of death was due to falling asleep on the railroad tracks. Later reports claimed the boys had been slain before being placed on the tracks.

In addition, the following Clinton bodyguards are now dead:

▪ Major William S. Barkley Jr.

▪ Captain Scott J. Reynolds

▪ Sgt. Brian Hanley

▪ Sgt. Tim Sabel

▪ Major General William Robertson

▪ Col. William Densberger

▪ Col. Robert Kelly

▪ Spec. Gary Rhodes

▪ Steve Willis

▪ Robert Williams

▪ Conway LeBleu

▪ Todd McKeehan

If, God forbid, there is an assassination attempt on Sen. Obama’s life, can the Clintons or their underworld surrogates credibly avoid being among the prime suspects?

The Odds

Think about it. How many people do you know – linked to your family – who are dead from “suicide” or “accident”? One, two, three, four, five? I suspect maybe one or two.

How many people do you suppose are dead from suicide or accident in Sen. Obama’s family, security detail, or political connections? You probably have no idea and neither do I. But I guess maybe one or two – or none!

Senator Obama, you’re not my candidate, but nevertheless I’m alarmed on your behalf!

It’s not okay – it’s frightening – that you’ve allowed people into your packed-to-the-rafters audiences to ignore or bypass security clearances. This says a lot about your ability or inability to deal with the Machiavellian tyrants who want not only to destroy your candidacy but also to undermine our country.

It’s not okay that you have “trust” in your security detail. And it’s not okay for you to think, as you’ve stated many times, that the Clintons are your “friends.”

Get a clue man – and some body armor wouldn’t hurt!
