Voting For War or Peace in Iran

Please help. Your help is required to find the truth and maybe help prevent war.

An idea came to mind to design a questionnaire so as to conduct a nationwide poll in Iran so as to get a true picture of what the Iranian people want and how they envision a better future for Iran where the threat of war is not always on the horizon.

Given that I know little about how to design such a questionnaire I thought maybe I should simply request help via this article.

So if you have such a talent please be my guest and see if you can help arrive at accurate answers for questions like these:

1) Do you think a better way can be found to conduct elections in Iran?

2) Do you think it is bad that many Iranians don’t bother to vote?

3) Do you think more Iranians would vote if they were certain that their vote would be counted honestly and in the open for all to witness?

4) Do you think voters should decide who should be screened out to stand for office or an unelected supervising agency set up by the ruling elite?

5) Do you think you should have the right to vote for your governor? Or mayor? Or local police chief? Or national, provincial, or local judges?

6) Do you think school principals, and superintendents for local schools should be elected, or selected by some self-appointed authority?

7) Do you think your Majlis representative actually represents your views? Does he or she work in your interest or somebody else’s? Do you think a better way can be found so that your interests are represented?

8) Do you think we should stop all nuclear activity if it will result in removing the possibility of war?

9) What do you think Iran should demand in return for stopping its nuclear activity?

A) Foreign investment in solar energy? $500 billion dollars?
B) Foreign investment in oil and gas industry?
C) Removal of all sanctions?
D) Entry into World Trade Organization?

10) Do you think another referendum should be held to see what form of government Iranians want?

11) Do think the country can be managed in a better way?

12) Do you think the Iranian economy can be managed better?

13) Do you think your income is enough to survive under these economic conditions where prices are constantly increasing?

13.5) Do you think the ruling elite or citizens should have control over the Internet, radio and television broadcasting?

14) Do you think the military should stay out of politics?

15) Do you think the military should stay out of the business sector and not compete with private companies?

16) Do you think the military should be under civilian control or under the control of one man?

17) Do you think Iranians should have the right to vote for war or peace?

18) Do you think there should be a separation of mosque and state?

19) Do you think if there was the separation of mosque and state the chances of war would be lower or greater?

Well, you get the idea.

Besides needing questionnaire experts there will be a requirement for people that have the skills to create a secure Web site so that this poll can be conducted in such a way that Iranians in Iran can participate and know that their answers will be counted fairly, honestly, securely, and without manipulation or trickery. And of course anonymously, which may be the hard part as it may invalidate the votes.

With a good Farsi translation and widespread distribution maybe the answers that Iranians give could play a part in securing a peaceful future for Iran.

How to kick this off? Maybe through a Google and Yahoo group given the number of Iranians that use Gmail and Yahoo email service? If there are any good constructive ideas please use the comment feature below. And please let’s keep our egos in check and try to find a way out of the current mess.

A Google Group has been created so if you want to join the group here is the address:

You cannot do this optimally

by hirre on

You cannot do this because other than IP there is no way to uniquely identify people, especially iranians' votes. This would require Electronic IDs which they don't have over there. You could use IPs to identify people, but the problem with Iran is that people have the same IP because of proxy use. Another way is to use E-mail validation, but that has problems if all e-mails are allowed, e.g. if you own a domain, you can redirect all email addresses within that domain to a single account, thus making it possible to vote for the same alternative many times. The best way to do it in the case of Iran is to use E-mail validation, but restrict it so that people must use the most famous and secure services, e.g. google, yahoo, hotmail/msn/live etc....

Other than that it would be interesting, I could probably do it in a couple of days, some questions might need to be tweeked and a message must by placed warning people outside Iran not to vote, IP needs to be registered so that you can semi-verify that most are iranians from Iran (eg if you see same IP thousands of times it's most probably iranians in Iran using a proxy), this way you can filter out foreigners as well...

Your question is somewhat misleading and insincere.

What you should be asking is as follows:

Vote for War on the IR or vote for continued oppression of Iranians, rape, torture, drying up of Lake Urumiyeh and 500 more executions per year.

1) Do you think a better way can be found to conduct elections in Iran?

yes, through regime change

2) Do you think it is bad that many Iranians don’t bother to vote?

No, you don't have a choice. Vote for one cousin shagger or another dirty un-hygeinic speahi bache akhund who has been approved by the so-called Assembly of Experts. You might as well vote for Daffy Duck or Mickey Mouse.

3) Do you think more Iranians would vote if they were certain that their vote would be counted honestly and in the open for all to witness?

Do you believe that Ayhatollah Khomein's face was found on the moon?

4) Do you think voters should decide who should be screened out to stand for office or an unelected supervising agency set up by the ruling elite?

I would have thought that that's their God given right!

5) Do you think you should have the right to vote for your governor? Or mayor? Or local police chief? Or national, provincial, or local judges?

I got on even better. I want to vote for what regime to have. I want to vote as to who my 'supreme leader' is, if I were to want one at all!

6) Do you think school principals, and superintendents for local schools should be elected, or selected by some self-appointed authority?

No. Chnage the regime. That is the priority.

7) Do you think your Majlis representative actually represents your views? Does he or she work in your interest or somebody else’s? Do you think a better way can be found so that your interests are represented?

Yes, I found my Majlis representative very useful. I wanted to know which foot I need to put inside to go to the bathroom first when I wanted to pee. Is it the right one or the left one? I called up my representative and he put me in touch with a Hojatollah who quickly addressed my question. That's democracy at your door step!

8) Do you think we should stop all nuclear activity if it will result in removing the possibility of war?

The nuclear activity has NEVER been the issue. It is the regime. Even a paper scissors in the hand of this regime is dangerous let alone a nuclear weapon. Change the regime!

9) What do you think Iran should demand in return for stopping its nuclear activity?

A) Foreign investment in solar energy? $500 billion dollars?

B) Foreign investment in oil and gas industry?

C) Removal of all sanctions?

D) Entry into World Trade Organization?

Neither: E) regime change.

10) Do you think another referendum should be held to see what form of government Iranians want?

Referendum or no referendum this regime must gooooooo

11) Do think the country can be managed in a better way?

Yes, through regime change

12) Do you think the Iranian economy can be managed better?

Er, given that most Iranians can't buy meat or eggs and inflation being at 19% then heck yeah!

13) Do you think your income is enough to survive under these economic conditions where prices are constantly increasing?

It would if we had regime change

13.5) Do you think the ruling elite or citizens should have control over the Internet, radio and television broadcasting?

I think the citizens should also be able to decide how best to torture and execute the mullahs

14) Do you think the military should stay out of politics?

Yes, and execute those who were involved in quelling the uprising of 2009.

15) Do you think the military should stay out of the business sector and not compete with private companies?

THESE QUESTIONS ARE BECOMING REPETETIVE.... REGIME CHANGE

16) Do you think the military should be under civilian control or under the control of one man?

REGIME CHANGE.

17) Do you think Iranians should have the right to vote for war or peace?

REGIME CHANGE.

18) Do you think there should be a separation of mosque and state?

GOOD QUESTION. I THINK THE MOSQUE SHOULD BE SEPARATED AND BE REBUILT INTO SHOPPING CENTRES. NO, THAT'S NOT FAIR. WHEN I WAS IN IRAN, AND I NEEDED TO TAKE A PEE, THE MOSQUES WERE A GREAT PLACE OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE FOR ME. IT WAS LIKE THE LOCAL MCDONALD'S.WHEN YOU GOTTA GO. YOU GOTTA GO.....

19) Do you think if there was the separation of mosque and state the chances of war would be lower or greater?

IT WOULD MAKE THE LIVES OF JUST ABOUT EVERY IRANIAN, IF NOT THE ENTIRE WORLD BETTER.

Omid I already wrote on Alternative Election. We need big guns. And they are too busy making money than saving Iran. They are helping consumption.
