After winning her first two games, Arghavan (ranked #15) will be playing Russia's Nadia Petrova (ranked #19) on Phillipe Chatrier court, game #5. So, it may be later in the day. I will make a post when the match starts.

Petrova has not had a great year this year but she is a former top 10 player. I believe if Arghavan doesn't get rattled by unforced errors, and lose confidence in her shots, she'll win. Look for Arghavan to come out strong in the first set. She's been having troubles in the second set.

I hope all Iranian girls/women have the freedom one day
by aynak on Sat May 29, 2010 08:48 AM PDTto live in an Iran, which respects their RIGHT as equal citizens and stops the gender apartheid.
Watching Arghvane play one can not help but wonder the huge potential that is missed. After all, Arghavn is here because of the freedom the society she lives in provides, or at least it does not make obstacles.
Even though Arghavan lost in the
by aynak on Sat May 29, 2010 08:37 AM PDT18th! game of 3rd set, she showed great resilience. She had 4 chances at least to get the match, but on this occasion she came just a little short.
Anyone who plays tennis, the game of inches, knows how tough it is to stay close and not give up in marathon games like this. Give up, is not in her vocabulary, and with wimbledon just a month head she has to regroup.
She would need to mix her serves, more top spin, and force her opponent to move around more than just real hard hit.
She has all the ingredienets to make it to next level provided she adjust her game along.
Nonone hits the balls as powerfully in women's circuit, even Serena as she does. Her fighting spirit and never give up attitude is just amazing.
Go Arghavan

This has been an inspirational match
by aynak on Fri May 28, 2010 11:13 PM PDTBoth players have done an unbelievable job. Rezai is ahead by just 2 extra points in terms of total number of points won: 122-120 after 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Sometimes you think there has to be a tie in the game as a fair outcome, but someone has to advance to next round.
Venus skated through her match, and comes Sunday will be the fresher of the winner of this game.
Great resilence from Arghavn. If she makes it out of this round, she will be ready for Venus, as the hard serve style of Petrova is more the style that Venus plays, with the hard serves and heavy hitting from base line, so Arghavan should try to mix it a little bit.
Go Arghavan
