the problem is that she never knew him. Her mother passed away when my wife was about 4 years old. Nobody in her family new much about her father. He was in the Iranian Navy or Air force I believe. In the mid 1970's he was stationed in Lackland Air force base for training, that is where he met my wife's mother. My wife's name is Diana. I guess my wife's father had to leave to Iran because of the conflict between the U.S and Iran in the late 70's or he was ordered to go back to Iran. Unfortunately there was never a picture of my wife's father left behind. But if anybody knows of someone that was in San Antonio Texas and in the Iranian military in that time frame, please let me know.

contacts
by Reza Khaneh Mir Five (not verified) on Fri Feb 20, 2009 08:31 PM PST1) Dafter.org the Iranian Interest Section at the Pakistan Embassy in Washington, DC. If you contact them and be patient with their somewhat impatience from time to time, they keep a very good record of all Iranians that come to USA for whatever reasons. They are generally very cooperative.
2)Lackland, Texas Court Records for marriage licenses in 1975-19xx, you will be surprised. Hamid in fact is not a common name at all. So, there is a good chance. Your wife's birth certificate has mother's name and the city's court archives should have records of marriage licenses under that name.
3)Department of Motor Vehicles in Lackland, Texas. Befriend a newspaper reporter in your area and ask them to conduct the search. Most likely the officer got a Texas drivers license in those years.
4)Contact a TV station. They like to conduct this kind of stories.
Start with
by faryarm on Fri Feb 20, 2009 07:30 PM PSTThere is a chance you can look up "Hamid" and get a last name of all the Hamids at Lackland Airforce Base in;1975 US Air force keeps pretty good records..
Best wishes.

Not easy
by Anonymous Iranian (not verified) on Fri Feb 20, 2009 05:23 PM PSTIf you had a last name you had a better chance, but since you only have a first name that makes it difficult to start your search.I know how much Diana wants to meet his father and I do not want to disappoint her,but if he is married he probably does not want to have anything to do with his previous life.
Tough Indeed
by paulflores on Fri Feb 20, 2009 04:50 PM PSTI Thank you for your response. I do actually have a first name, but not a last and unfortunately his name might be as common as Tom or Joe. In any case, Hamid is what my mother called him. I know that he was here FOR SURE in 1975, hence my birth later that year. Are there a lot of Hamid's? I'm wondering how difficult it could be to have that sort of information released to me considering I have no last name or physical picture to go by. I do have a mental picture that I can definetly recognize if I ran across another picture, but like you said I might have to go to immigration and see what they can do to help. Thanks for your quick response in this matter.

tough situation
by Abarmard on Fri Feb 20, 2009 11:35 AM PSTNot much information to go by. Why not go to the US immigration or similar offices and check the possible list of information, there must be some records of those from the Iranian military stationed here and they might have a picture document. You have the last name right? That could be the start
