Pope-mobile, pope-mobile, to me your car is hope-mobile
That's how bad thing are.
What do you do back there, sitting on that chair?
A poo, perhaps, through the robes -- plop!
Plop-mobile, plop-mobile, to me your car is a sop-mobile
That's how sad things are.
What you doing waving there, you're a museum, people stare.
Or a zoo-perhaps, behind the glass, like a hippo -- poo, plop-plop... ahh!
Papal plop. Heave. No-one'll see: this car's made for your security.
You can poo but can you pee?
Pee-mobile, pee-mobile. To me you're a wait-and-see mobile.
God bless America you say, bless them all unless they're gay.
Gay-mobile. Gay-mobile. That'll be your heyday imbecile.
Pimp your pope-mobile pink. Say it loud, I'm gay and I'm proud.
Pope-mobile, pope-mobile, you are the people's dope mobile.
Does it turn into a hearse, though?
And couldn't you have lent one to Bezanir Bhutto?

by Azarin Sadegh on Fri Apr 18, 2008 03:11 PM PDTDear Peyvand,
Great work! Very funny indeed...You are lucky to have inherited the great sense of humor of your Dad (that I love!)
If even the Christians don't get offended when Family Guy (the extremely popular show on Fox) makes fun of Jesus doing his famous finger "miracle", or Kung Fu Jesus, I'll survive Jesus, etc..., I don't know why we should take everything so seriousely and make everything political ...Is it a sin to laugh?
Voila the link for family Guy:

Keep up the good work! Azarin

by Midwesty on Fri Apr 18, 2008 02:08 PM PDTTo set the record straight, you know it and I know it the "catholic spiritual leader" that you like to call Benedict is not even a Catholic. So there is no base for your first argument. As it goes with your second argument, I believe with respect to Art there have always been mainstream popular opinions and intellectual ones in two different directions. So one can either belong to the mainstream or the intellectual camp. How on earth you came up that I don't belong to either one of them is another thing. Finally, something tells me that this is not the first time we have come across each other. As I always have told you if you come up with your original log name we can then have a nice chat. Until then please clear off and let us have some peaceful conversation with others.

You won't get an artist like Omid Djalili talk or write like that because he is talented and can convey the message and make you laugh without insulting anyone's race. colour, creed or religion. Peyvand Khorsandi is more of a vulgar clown.
And please don't confuse yourself with "meainstream public opinion" and the supposed "intellectual" ones.
For the record I am neither catholic nor christian.

by Midwesty on Fri Apr 18, 2008 11:04 AM PDTPeyvand's writings are very clever and original. He writes short articles and he is right on the point. However most of the time an original idea might not fit well with the main stream public opinion. In this case based on Benedict's popularity, Peyvand’s view is not even that far off from the public's view. So it is either that an artist should explore new and original ideas or get stuck with boring and traditional one-fits-all concepts. Remember, he is talking about Benedict’s pope-mobile, he is not attacking Catholicism.

by IRANdokht on Fri Apr 18, 2008 10:50 AM PDTAlthough the Pope is not a politician, he has the political weight to sway people's mind and votes. He was greeted at the airport by the president of this country, that's more of a respect than some politicians receive!
When he spoke of Muhammad and Islam in a disrespectful manner he was officially adding fuel to the current conflicts' fire.
This Pope has been politically incorrect and in the case of the church's sexual abuse, he has not been outspoken and effective enough. Although not a politician, there are a lot of responsibilities on the Pope's shoulders when it comes to current affairs and conflicts. His behavior and his words have been less than encouraging.
But I don't think smearing him with vulgarity is benefitial to anyone.

When you have reasonable criticism
by IRANdokht on Fri Apr 18, 2008 03:05 PM PDTWhen you have reasonable criticism, you should voice it in a reasonable manner.
Rhyming Pope with poop etc does not sit well with anyone and puts people on defensive, just like our anonymous commenters are put on defensive when they read blunt criticism of Islam accompanied by mudslinging and vulgarity.
The criticism is valid in both cases, the Pope should be more sensitive about the issues concerning humanity and sexual abuse by the clergies, and muslims should also realize that some of their practices are not humane and completely outdated and/or criminal. But attacking them with disrespect and deterring from the valid points will only get their followers blood boiling and it's counter-productive.
That's all I am saying!
Thanks for stating your views, but please respect other people's views as well: Two wrongs don't make it right.

Quite right and may I add that the Pope is not a politician. You want to blame someone for the war in Iraq for example? Then blame the people who voted for Bush and Blair....TWICE.
The Khorsandi family have a thing for vulgarity.

I thank your respectfullness toward pope.
But remind you that mr. khorsandi is just an humble british stand up comedian.
NO!
by IRANdokht on Fri Apr 18, 2008 08:48 AM PDTA lot of people may feel frustrated about the Pope not showing the concerns he should be, but to insult him like that and using those bathroom words is just wrong!
If you are upset about his policies and the way he approaches the current world issues, please show respect to the millions of people who think very highly of him and be proper. Since your concerns are not unreasonable, your approach shouldn't be either.
Thank you

The previous Pope was much better.
by Anonymouse on Fri Apr 18, 2008 06:42 AM PDTThe previous Pope was much better. He looked for common grounds and travelled the world to make common friends. This one started with a controversy of his own making, not a big one but still when you are a man of that caliber more is expected of you, much more.
And then on the priest sexual abuse, he was forced to meet the victims. He wasn't planning to even really address it until he had no other choice. Cold one this one.
What did he say about Iraq?
by Faribors Maleknasri M.D. (not verified) on Fri Apr 18, 2008 01:12 AM PDTI dont know but I am sure: Nothing what would give reason to our Bushy Bushy, the representative of the american imperialism alias greate satan, getting more mad as it allready is. he and all other pops have never provocate the wild ones. * Now is the turn of benedict. He must see that the not any more soo greate satan does not speaks sanctions against his world wide operating commercial institution. Greeting

by Abarmard on Thu Apr 17, 2008 09:24 PM PDTIf he really had balls, he would criticize Mr. Bush for his war rather than focus on Abortion and "western" values, which was Bush's theme during his election. We saw what a shame those values end up to be, now pope is praising them? what a world we live in.
