After everything I've been through in the past few days, from defending against slander to being slandered myself with vicous lies, I came up to the definition of sockpuppet, also known as "concern troll" at the Urban Dictionary.
I laughed for minutes! These kids kill me! They have a perfect word for everything.
See if this sounds familiar to you!
Concern Troll:
In an argument (usually a political debate), a concern troll is someone who is on one side of the discussion, but pretends to be a supporter of the other side with "concerns". The idea behind this is that your opponents will take your arguments more seriously if they think you're an ally. Concern trolls who use fake identities are sometimes known as sockpuppets.
PS. A few of your emailed me after the recent events with your expressions of support. I really appreciate each and every one. Thank You.

My strategy
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Wed Nov 25, 2009 10:15 PM PSTI finally remembered that I chose to simply ignore the person making such accusations.
In time the people on the web site realized those accusations were unfounded.
Technically, Q was trying to defend her and asked her not to leave the web site.
I don't really think that he had intended to cause me as much harm as he did.
By his comment to me on this thread; he seems to be totally oblivious to it.
Such is life........

by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Thu Nov 19, 2009 03:03 PM PSTMy disclaimer was to make sure that people did not start assuming that he was my friend. I only communicate with him from time to time on this web site.
I was simply trying to remind him of certain slanderous accusations about me in one of his blogs from a mutual acquaintance.
"Disclaimer: My so called friend is not in anyway a reference to Q."
Apparently, that attempt was futile.
Q, and I have agreed to disagree on many points. Emphasis on the many. He is also NOT my enemy.
FYI: I communicate with my real friends off the web site.

He is your real friend, then?
I really did not think that you were going to let the slanderous talk about you take you down.
Slanderous talk. About Q. That's like identifying a serial rapist as a victim of sexual harassment.
Q, you're an idiot.
by ex programmer craig on Thu Nov 19, 2009 10:22 AM PSTEven after you looked it up, you got it wrong :p
A "sock puppet" is a fake second (or third, or tenth!) account people create just to agree with themselves, in order to make it look like their commenst are more popular and better supported than they really are. It comes from the old kid's programs where people would put socks on each hand and have their right hand have a conversation with their left hand. It's not a synonym for a "concern troll"
These kids kill me!
Kids? The term "sock puppet" has been in use on the internet for at least 20 years. How old ARE you? lol.
EDIT: ID I really enjoyed seeing you, of all people, complaining about "concern trolls" :D
Re: Q,..political backstabbing
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Thu Nov 19, 2009 03:51 AM PSTFor many people politics is a twisted mind game. They will do almost anything and step over anyone or anything to meet their objective.
I just think that there is something totally wrong when politics are placed ahead of people.
So, yes.......politics can be a sick joke.
I clearly understand why my parents kept my sisters and I out of it.
"concern troll" eh? :o)
by IRANdokht on Wed Nov 18, 2009 07:42 PM PSTWe've seen quite a few of those in the past couple of days coming out of woodwork...
There are also some who can't pretend (because of their previous known stance). The passive aggressive approach is fun to watch too!
They start politely, show concern, agree with some benign part of what you said and by the end of their numerous comments where they pretend that you have not convinced them yet (or you didn't answer their questions), they insult you personally and attack your ideals dismissing them completely. Then just before they end it by announcing they will not continue "this debate", they blame you for not being intelligent enough.

Natalia, any backstabbing is political by nature
by Q on Wed Nov 18, 2009 07:26 PM PSTunless it was a joke, it's politics!
Never mind Q
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Wed Nov 18, 2009 07:24 PM PSTI wasn't talking about politics.
All you ever see is politics.
Have a good Thanksgiving!
Natalia, Im not sure what you mean?
by Q on Wed Nov 18, 2009 06:59 PM PSTAn organized political take-down leaves little choice for the victim. What can he do? Spend his time denying allegations instead of doing anything else -- like say fight against Sanctions? That's the whole idea!
Usually, though the perpetrators are smart enough not to get their own name and reputation involved, but not in this case.
If I had a dollar for everytime my good name was dragged through the mud on this web site.
You have to admit, you have nothing on me!
Hell No!
by Natalia Alvarado-Alvarez on Wed Nov 18, 2009 06:37 PM PSTI am definetely not a sock puppet. I in no way fit the definition.
I really did not think that you were going to let the slanderous talk about you take you down.
I always thought you were made of tougher stuff. Hmmmm Was I right or wrong?
If I had a dollar for everytime my good name was dragged through the mud on this web site.
Hell! Even my so called friend stabbed me in the back.
Remember that blog of yours I so disliked?
