The punishment of a thief:
Baha writes in Aqdas, “When caught for the first time, exile and for the second time, imprisonment, is decreed for a thief. On the third offense, place a mark upon his brow so that he may be recognized by it”.
This means that if a thief is caught for the first time, he is to be exiled. Then he goes to another city and steals there, it will be as if he is caught for the first time as people will not be knowing of his past.
If at all a thief is caught for the third time and branded, then it is as good as a license given to him to steal. People will respect him just out of fear. Besides if he wants to repent will 'Baha' come and wipe out the mark from the thief’s forehead?

by Badi19 on Tue Aug 25, 2009 07:33 PM PDTCan you tell us what the punishment prescribed in the baha'i writings for crimes such as Rape, theft and murder?
The Laws of Aqdas; Out of context.
by faryarm on Tue Aug 25, 2009 12:48 PM PDTAnother attempt to distort by quotig possible Bahai Laws of the future out of context.
There are many Bahai Laws that might be instituted in the future;laws that would meet the needs of that day, and instituted by democratically elected bodies.
What this Fake Blogger is attempting is wrong, and malicious ,trying to portray the Bahai Faith in a Bad light.
The Fair minded would try to examine the whole picture before making judgements.
Stupid reasoning, not worth even reading this
by Jasbe9 on Tue Aug 25, 2009 09:22 AM PDTDo you understand how stupid your reasoning is? Are you still live in stone age? Go and commit a small crime(steal somthing) you'll see not only the city you live in but also the whole world will know. First of all your theft crime will be entred in data base and all the authorities in the city and the whole country have access to it. later on go and apply for a passport, your crime will be with you(via the police check if you don't know) and eventully the whole world will know about your crime. Good luck with that.
And the punishment for arsonists
