Somehow, with all the horror we've been seeing on the streets, the particularly painful loss of Neda, the wheelings and dealings of the real power brokers within the theocracy, Obama's public statements, the effect of this explosion in Iran internationally , and the many analyses of the big picture,by commentators in the press, Mir Hossein Moussavi seems to have receded a bit into the background of our awareness here (at least in english, which is what i read).
But in reality there have been several important developants with Moussavi in the last couple of days, so I thought I should apprise you of them.
According to Makmalbaf in Paris, Moussavi is now under 24 hour guard. so that it is very difficult for him to speak freely.'he has security agents, secret police with him all the time. He has to be careful what he says,' Mahmalbaf told a reporter.The article from the Independent, UK is here:
//www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/mousavi-under-24hour-guard-1715548.html
Yesterday, BBC Persian reports, the offices of Moussavi's website Salaam were raided and his staff arrested, and,according to NiIAC, the groundwork for his arrest was laid out on Thusrday in Kayhan:which is closely affiliated eith Khamenei, either to intimidate him or to follow through. I can't read the Persian so I don't know what the specifics of this 'groundwork' are, but I can well imagine. You can read about it here:
//www.kayhannews.ir/880403/3.htm#other307
Fortunately, as of now, his Facebook page is still open.
.
And somehow, in the midst of all this, NIAC reports that, according to Tahlile Rooz,Larjani is trying to get air time for Moussavi on tv, based on partisanship and censorship, but given the above information, I think it would be highly unlikely for him to succeed, don't you?
The last three developments all appear on the NiIAC blog;
I wonder what Hashemi's doing right this very moment, don't you?'
Wheeling and dealing. And not always holding the cards..
***
There was a blogger here before under a name for the Moussavi campaign who posted regularly. in Persian. I don't remember seeing him lately. Did I miss somthing? Or is that blogger posting now in Persian under a different account?

But to endorse their gagging him suggests they have legitimacy. Abd that, they have forfeited.
No one is obligated to cheerlead for his freedom. But they shouldn't cheerlead for them eitheer.
They'll do as they do. But it should not be enorsed, Especially not in the way it first was below.
They are unendorsable.

by anonymous fish on Wed Jun 24, 2009 10:46 AM PDTStill not sure if you're getting what Irritated is saying. I agree with him. It's kinda like... we started this in support of you and where are you now? Now, I know it has morphed into something much greater than the elections and Moussavi himself but the point is that they came out in protest of the elections and I think he is saying that he might feel abandoned. That's all. It does give the people (or rather I would assume it would because it would me) the idea that he is not supporting them. JC is right... the IRI ain't a bunch of fools. They know exactly what they're doing.
And also, Rosie. You say murderers shouldn't have the right to arrest someone. But they do! You're using the word murderer to describe the very legitimate (in their eyes anyway) thugs who are in charge!
Thanks Roshan

I get your point.
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Tue Jun 23, 2009 09:58 PM PDTBut arrested by whom?
Murderers should not have the authority to arrest anyone.
If some disillusioned,vangry followers or the families of the dead kids wish to plot to kidnap and sequester him and put tape over his mouth...
well, as long as they don't hurt anyone..
fair enough.
a sick strategy
by j.c. (not verified) on Tue Jun 23, 2009 08:34 PM PDTWith shutting down all the websites,the house arrest, and arresting his colleaguess; they(IRI) want to give the impression that Mousavi is retreating form his agendas.This is so unfair that he can not speake out, while his rivals have swarmed and captivated all the media inside Iran and start a brainwashing campaign all against him.

by Irritated (not verified) on Tue Jun 23, 2009 08:09 PM PDTYou didn’t get my point!!
Moussavi has been disappeared for past couple of days, and.. and the only acceptable excuse would be if there is a tape on his mouth and being house arrested. :(#%&!?*$%:(
You're not making no sense, Irritated.
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Tue Jun 23, 2009 07:55 PM PDTif they walked into a bloodbath, who was it that bathed them?
Maybe he should've encouraged them to keep marchinrg or maybe not. There are valid arguments on both sides.
But to argue that murderers have a right to 'protect' the people from anyone, to legitimately exercise authority over anyone, is an invalid argument. Think about it. It is.
I an sorry to remind you that that girl wasn't even marching.And she was clearly targeted. And she wasn't the only one.
And yet they still allow those vigilantes to run around willy nilly with guns. Who are they to claim the right to keep guard over anyone? In the name of protecting the people.
You sound like good person. Really, you do.You have more legitimacy to keep guard over him than they do.
You're not thinking straight.

by Irritated (not verified) on Tue Jun 23, 2009 07:20 PM PDTHe better be under 24 hours guard watch or house arrest. Otherwise it is a shameful crime to start a movement, encouraging young daughters and sons of Iran to walk toward bloody death path, then by the sudden disappear:(#%&!&*$%?>!
Oh they're insane
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Tue Jun 23, 2009 07:17 PM PDTYesterday they had this huge headline emblazoned on the front page giving the 'exact' dollar amount of the CIA investment in fomenting the riots.
It wasn't in their international issuem so obviously they intended it only or their readership within Iran. But even my 83 year old Jewish American mother in Miami knew about it.
And all the while they keep babbling this nonsense to the world that the elections were legitimate. While the whole world saw that poor girl's bloodstained face.
I mean, my god, even ifaN won 99% of the vote,that stupid 'election' has absolutely no validityvwhatsoever.
I keep saying that if all thesevpeople weren't dying and getting
their eyes gouged out, that it would sound like something out of
Monty Python. Can you imagine what it's like to go through life
with no eyes? These kids will be walking around maimed forever,
like the soldiers from the war with iIraq.
As a constant testiony that this time they did this to their own
people. But at least they won't be in power. They won't. They
can't. You can't hold onto power when you're stark raving mad.
i don't mean sociopathic. I mean stark raving mad.
