Statements coming from Iranian statesmen indicates that they somewhat and somehow like the current economical situation in Iran.  I believe they have "soaped their bellies" that if a new war starts, or at least if the situation gets worse, they can use this pretext to exercise their power on people more freely just as they did during the Iran-Iraq war and had a lot of "fun" with it.  This, given the direction that the (rest of the) world has been moving to, reminded of the following poem by Rumi:

‫آن مگس بر برگ کاه و بول خر‬
‫همچو کشتى بان همى افراشت سر‬

‫گفت من دريا و کشتى خوانده ام‬
‫مدتى در فكر آن مى مانده ام‬

‫اينك اين دريا و اين کشتى و من‬
‫مرد کشتيبان و اهل و رايزن‬

‫بر سر دريا همى راند او عمد‬
‫مى نمودش آن قدر بيرون ز حد‬

‫بود بى حد آن چمين نسبت بدو‬
‫آن نظر که بيند آن را راست کو‬

‫عالمش چندان بود کش بينش است‬ ‫
چشم چندين بحر هم چندينش است‬

‫صاحب تاويل باطل چون مگس‬
‫وهم او بول خر و تصوير خس‬

‫گر مگس تاويل بگذارد به راى‬
‫آن مگس را بخت گرداند هماى‬

‫آن مگس نبود کش اين عبرت بود‬
‫روح او نى در خور صورت بود‬

آیا زمانی خواهد رسید که « تاويل بگذارد به راى‬»؟
