The full documentary about Atefeh
by Azarin Sadegh on Tue Sep 30, 2008 01:36 AM PDTVery hard to watch...it was the first documentary that I had seen about the execution of children in Iran. Since then, I couldn't forget about her life and death and about what she had to go through during her short 16 years of life:

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzD_SSGrSr8

and
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=aspN7-ChXqM
Being raised by her old and sick grandma and her absent addicted father, Atefeh lived and grew up on her own...She was repeatedly raped by an old influential man in their village (since she was just a kid) and when she finally dared to protest, she was accused of adultery and was executed.
She reminds me of a wild flower trapped in dirt...
I don't believe in hell. I don't believe in heaven, but I think what she endured wasn't really life. What she endured in that "unseen zone of torment" in between.

You're right Nazy jan
by IRANdokht on Mon Sep 29, 2008 12:20 PM PDTSo many of these kids do not deserve to die. They don't even deserve to be kept in prison.
What kind of justice system is this? and these are the people who claim they believe in God and heaven and hell?
It's hard to comprehend this level of evil.

by Nazy Kaviani on Mon Sep 29, 2008 11:54 AM PDTHe smiles. And when he isn't smiling, he's laughing. And when he isn't laughing, he's shooting hoops, writing, studying, listening to music, earning his pocket money, and celebrating life.
He is a young man, enjoying life, learning and growing, my son, aged 22.
What if she was 22 instead of 16? Says who she deserved to die?
And the most shocking part of this story which defied belief every step of the way was that the judge put the noose around her neck. The judge became the executioner...think about that and weep for her who may have been 16 or 22, never getting a chance to live and grow, the last person she saw, her executioner, the same as her judge and jury.
Humanity was degraded on the day this happened, whether we knew about it or not.
This is so sad

why was such a young girl
by gold fish (not verified) on Mon Sep 29, 2008 08:35 AM PDTwhy was such a young girl executed? And how could she have been accused of adultery when she was not even married?
Ali Darabi (51-year-old ex-revolutionary guard who repeatedly raped her in her teens) and Haji Rezai ( the religious judge) should be punished.
