بهنام زارع بی سروصدا اعدام شد

We regret to announce that without any prior notification of his parents or lawyer, Behnam Zare was executed this morning in prison yard of Shiraz prison in Iran. Stop Child Executions strongly condemns execution of Behnam Zare and calls on Islamic regime in Iran to once and for all join the international community and immediately halt all child executions.

Not only Iran is in direct violation of the international conventions (ICCPR and CRC) which prohibit execution of those guilty of crimes before the age of 18, but by not notifying the parents and attorneys, Iran also violates its own laws which requires 48 notice of intent to execute.

Behnam Zare’ was convicted of a murder which reportedly took place on 21 April 2005, when he was 15 years old. He was found to have swung a knife during an argument with a man named Mehrdad, wounding him in the neck. Mehrdad later died in hospital. Behnam Zare`was detained on 13 November 2005; Branch 5 of Fars Criminal Court sentenced him to qesas (retribution) for premeditated murder. Under Article 206 (b) of Iran’s Criminal Code, murder is classed as premeditated “in cases where the murderer intentionally makes an action which is inherently lethal, even if [the murderer] does not intend to kill the person.” The case went to appeal before Branch 33 of the Supreme Court where the sentence was upheld, and it was then passed to the Office for Implementation of Sentences after approval by Iran's head of Judiciary, Ayatollah Shahrudi.

Some mother's son

To Behman's mother:

بلبلي خون دلي خورد و گلي حاصل كرد

باد غيرت به صدش خار پريشان دل كرد

طوطي اي را به خيال شكري دل خوش بود

ناگهش سيل فنا نقش امل باطل كرد

قره العين من آن ميوه دل يادش باد

كه چه آسان بشد و كار مرا مشكل كرد

A nation of supertitious people

by Iva (not verified) on

will be ruled with hoccus poccus and iron fist. Majority of people are afraid of imaginary creatures that islam has created, hence, same people won't raise their voices against tyrany as they don't want to anger the all mighty, the invisible man and consequently they suffer and endure hardship caused by their ignorance.

These killings are not about

by Farollah (not verified) on

These killings are not about justice! It is about power! The power of a few over great many! This is about 2 million Hezbollahis holding another 68 million hostage ... That is why the faith of this regime will be decided by the same youth of Iran irrationally! This regime will be brought down violently!

Justice

by realist (not verified) on

We do not live in the west, where people think logically most of the time.Him murdering another human being I am sure could have been avoided.I am not sure about his motive for his crime, but even self defense is not a good reason which I think was not the reason. Some of the young Iranian men are hot headed and when there is no education, hand in hand they create problems like what we see.

"Give me Liberty or give me

"Give me Liberty or give me death".

Said by the american Patrick Henry before the revolutionary war.

they were willing to DO something. all we seem to do is sit here and complain and weep tears and blame everyone else. we act like sheep and say how hard it is to unit against the regime. we are losing every inch of pride that we talk so much about because we do NOTHING. it is sad.

do something?

by IRANdokht on

Some of us can't even show what we think and say what we have to say without hiding behind our monitors. Who are we kidding? There are people in Iran like these kids lawyers who are putting their neck on the line to save the country from going further down this whirlwind of doom and darkness... we're here afraid of our own shadows!

How many of us volunteer to help these people from the safety of our homes?

How many of us have signed the petition to stop these killings?

How many of us helped them financially? How many of us write letters or call to show support when they send an Urgent Call?

How many of us signed up to receive Amnesty International newsletters and joined human rights groups or volunteered for anything?

What difference does it make whether we talk about human rights violations or the atomic energy, when all we do is talk?

This needs to be the focus not nuclear power

by t (not verified) on

To all those who defend Iran's right to develop nuclear power, do you think the murderers who are in power in Iran today can be trusted with nuclear power when this is the way they run their criminal justice system and treat their own people.

Instead of wasting your time defending this regime, spend time saving the lives of these innocent teenagers being executed without a fair trial.

What the f_ _ k does Iran want nuclear power for when it has the most basic human rights issues to deal with.

Don't complain about what the West has done to us. Look and see what we have done and are doing to ourselves.

What else can you do? What else can we all do? In the absence of any real and meaningful resistance movement, in the absence of trust and solidarity between us iranians, there is nothing to be done. They kill, rape, torture, and strip our freinds, families, mothers, father, brothers and sisters of any human dignity... and we idley sit here with OUR FINGERS UP IN OUR ASSESS not knowing what to do. .. So go on home, take a cold shower and get on with your life....

Speechless

by Azarin at work (not verified) on

I'm just speechless...totally disgusted!

I guess this muteness, this impossible helplessness, this feeling of disgust is all that still remains of my own humanity...but I'm sure as soon as I am done with my damn bug in my code, and as soon as I'll go home (maybe after a cold shower) I would totally forget about Behnam and what he had to go through, etc, etc, etc ...I'll be going on with my life, or whatever is left from it.
