Delara Darabi, the young artist who has been in Rasht prison for the last 5 years in Iran, is at great risk of execution at any moment.
A few days ago, she was told by prison authorities to prepare herself as she would be executed any day. Her lawyer, Abdolsamad Khoramshahi, is convinced that if she were to be given a new trial whereby they could re-enact the scene of the crime, it would be easily proven that Delara is innocent of the alleged murder she was convicted of. Khoramshahi has said many times that he has new evidence including the crime being committed by a right handed person whereas Delara is lefthanded. Despite many attempts by human rights groups and celebrities to try and get pardon from the family of the victim, the family would like to see her execution carried out.
Stop Child Executions has been documenting Delara's case for several years and informing members of parliament worldwide, human rights group, the United Nations and the general public about her condition.
In 2007, Stop Child Executions produced a 10 minute documentary about Delara which can be viewed here: //video.google.com/videoplay?docid=533103998986446192&ei=7kbeSZumHaO0qAOo-YzVAw&q=delara+darabi

Sample Letter
by SCE Campaign on Sat Apr 11, 2009 03:39 PM PDTPersonal letters would work better but here is the outline of a short sample letter. Thank you for caring.
SUBJECT: Please stop the execution of Delara Darabi
I am writing to urge you to stop the execution of Delara Darabi in Iran.
Delara Darabi is currently facing execution for an alleged crime that took place when she was 17 years old. Yet I understand that Iran, as a state party to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, is obliged not to impose the sentence of death for crimes committed by persons below 18 years of age.
I urge your government to uphold its obligations under international law by overturning the death penalty handed down to Delara Darabi and taking immediate steps to end the death penalty for juvenile offenders.

by David ET on Sat Apr 11, 2009 02:58 PM PDTThe very details including a documentary made by SCE is in the blog if you bother and click on the links. That is if one cares enough to do only one more: CLICK or send just one more email today to officials of Islamic Republic!
Or is it that it is that Delara's picture in lingerie is not on the front page of iranian.com to get 120+ interested comments? Her fragile body will be naked when they bury her. Does that count?
Yes what has happened to us?!
Apathy kills
by Damon Jaan (not verified) on Sat Apr 11, 2009 10:36 AM PDTI find it very funny ( i mean interesting ) what gets people to actually take the time and effort ( many of which take more time to reply than I care to offer to read ) to reply to topics blogged about here. Sometimes a weblog can get 40 replies in a day and be soooo effing stupid that some would wonder why any one would care to begin with. Others are "artsy fartsy" and we get the whole heroin-chic Iranian crowd all luvsy dubsy or all critique'all over it. Politics usually brings out the best in us for it actually shows what we value.
What I find apalling is the fact that this girl is sentence to execution and while the blogger didn't state the "alleged" crime, and give further information on the case, or Sharia law for that matter. They did offer the case being tried and gave a brief explanation ( Child executions include people who are accused and sentence to death for crimes committed prior to being an adult ) and have given a means for Iranians, Americans, and anyone online with access to iranian.com the chance to get in contact with some one who in some way might influence the 'authorities' to act with caution. But I guess it is as the old saying goes, "who gives a spit". Funny I wonder if "real" Americans would stand for such b.s., and than claim all that effing humanity stuff.
Papa Khodaro Shokr I am where I am !
