In the United States of America, if you say that you support the IRI … you don’t need to say another thing. No American is going to listen, and no Iranian is gonna touch you with a 9 inch stick. So how can a half-decent guy lobby for the most hated terrorist regime in the world, and still earn a buck and some chelokabab?
Simple: don’t say that you support the IRI … but in practice, align your stands with the IRI’s real-political-aims in the West. You understand, they understand and the chelokabab will flow!
What are the real-political-aims of IRI in the land of infidels? Well, even the IRI goons know that they can only pursue modest goals in Europe and North America. No Western country is going to hug the mullahs, while their stated policy is the destruction of infidels. So that’s what they currently hope to achieve:
1. To be recognized as a legitimate state,
2. To dodge trade, economic and monetary sanctions,
3. To disable or disarm their political opponents abroad.
So as a lobby for IRI, do not say that you once worked for the Khomeini propaganda machine, or that your best college buddy has made millions dealing with IRI monsters, or all your friends have made free Iran trips to kiss AhmadiNejad’s ass right after his victory. Instead, you can still earn your keep by simply doing the following:
1. Announce, declare and forge the image of IRI as an average-Joe country, but one which has been misunderstood; and has been angry at the West, for a number of legitimate reasons.
2. Say that the poor Iranian people are going to be the real victims of any economic, trade and technical sanctions … while taking the tooth out of anything that can do real damage to IRI.
3. Pronounce the IRI enemies and political opponents as mindless terrorists or at least terrorist sympathizers … so that their torture and murder in Iran can be justified or overlooked, with no international outcry.
See ... it is as easy as 1, 2, 3 … any idiot with a college degree can do it … why not you!? Don’t worry about the money … money will find you faster than you can say IRI.

They should lobby Russia and China
by divaneh on Sun Aug 21, 2011 07:01 PM PDTI am with you Shazde. All they do is to soften the policies of the only power that gives IRI a bit of hard time. If they really care for Iran then they should use their skills to try influence the policies of the Chinese and Russian governments who are the real masters of the IRI and currently the real enemies of Iran.
That's why we need the S. African type Truth & Reconciliation
by Shazde Asdola Mirza on Sat Aug 20, 2011 05:13 PM PDTDear Rahmanian,
The truth is that we Iranians are not good men! We are mostly brutes, idiots and bigots. We need to understand that Truth and then have Reconciliation ... within ourselves and with the other people and groups.
From the point of view of an Outside Observer, we Iranians are a bunch of savages and barbarians. We need to understand that, and understand the fundamental backwardness of our society, which is also present in the hearts and minds of our "intellectuals" and our political groups.
That means, setting a simple set of ground rules for all groups to accept and be united over - e.g. simple Human Rights and Democratic Rules of Conduct. This would be without prejudice towards their past. Even IRI, Islamists, Royalists, Communists, etc should be allowed to join in, if they accept those basic rights and rules ... for the sake of understaning the Truth about ourselves and Reconciling with it.
I now go take a nap ... wake me up when we're there ... lol.
Well, I've never said no to a lady's "come on"

If you are NP, just say hello with cockney accent
If you are the kosher flower girl, then say Shalom
If you are the pretty-eye lady, send me a wink
If you are ... give me a hint ...

by G. Rahmanian on Sat Aug 20, 2011 04:41 PM PDTShazde: Interesting blog!Faramarz: I liked your comment, especially the last part, a lot. But the biggest problem for the opposition in general is their reluctance to unite due to their partisan or organizational interests. Each group seems to want to take the lead and that is not going to work!
Come on Shazde
by Tiger Lily on Sat Aug 20, 2011 04:36 PM PDTBe reasonable and reread my post, please. I really took time to make it succinct and as you know full well, the "left" is just as diverse as any other political animal, including the UK Workers' Union who campaigned for the release of Ossanlou.
Take the help from non-violent groups if indeed concerned about the welfare of the people inside Iran.
(Btw, I'm not even particulary on the left or right or whatever; I take reason where it is. I even have fundamental issues with Libertarian Socialists....)
Necessary Factuals can be asked of the Leftist Leaders
by Shazde Asdola Mirza on Sat Aug 20, 2011 04:26 PM PDTWhy not ask our good comrade Robert Mugabe of Zim?
How about Hugo Chavez of Ven?
Hey, Castro is still standing and may take a question or two.
Oh, I remember now: China ... certainly China the Communist should be holding solidarity with the oppressed workers of Iran.
LOL ... Left my foot.
Not necessarily factual
by Tiger Lily on Sat Aug 20, 2011 04:19 PM PDTThere's a lot of "reporting" on the internet about the "left"'s support of the IRI regime, but not much actual quoting from any articles or conferences.
On the other side however, there are properly reported movements of solidarity with workers' unions within Iran by European Union Workers' representatives and also factions of such very active Iranian solidarity groups.

by Shazde Asdola Mirza on Sat Aug 20, 2011 04:06 PM PDTYou are right when you are right ... lefties and fundamentalists after all have a common enemy ... the evil WEST.
If it weren't for the evil WEST, the world would have been such a nice place ... stalin would be playing in the Gulags ... Khomeini taking a blood bath in Evin ... Pol Pot havind some fine opium in Cambodia ...
That's why I hate the evil WEST, even though I have to live here; for health reasons only, you know!

Worst of all, there are even X fundamentalists in Europe supporting AN, for they believe he is a man of faith.
And I'm serious about it. Even if it sounds funny. ;o)

by Shazde Asdola Mirza on Sat Aug 20, 2011 02:56 PM PDTI partially agree with your points. Partially, because based on my first hand experiences in Iran, I'm against a Libya or Syria type uprising. Then again, that's me ... an old foggie!
What I hate about the typical IRI lobby is not their reluctance to support militant uprisings against the IRI, but their clear lack of any resolve against IRI, yet their clear full resolve towards protecting its real-politic interests at the international level.
The IRI lobbies mostly don't pay any attention to the situation in Iran and don't try to do anything for the people. Arguing that they should stay above the foray in order to be "impartial" and effective in bringing IRI and the world community together.
Recently, and after so much grass roots rumbling, some of them have started to pay a minimum lip service to the human rights issues. However, their major force is really and truely concentrated on protecting the important IRI political, economical and trade interests abroad.

Thanks Shazde for the post.
The argument that NIACians, the closet IRI supporters or the people who are genuinely against the war or violence put forward is, "we don't like what's going on in Iran today, but heaven forbid if somebody wants to come in and give to the Regime what it has been giving to the Iranian people in the past 30+ years." As if the dead and the tortured of yesterday and today somehow are worth less than the potential casualties of tomorrow. We have lost more than half a million Iranians because of this Regime.
Gaddafi and Assad will not go until the curtain comes down on them, neither do Sepah and Rahbar. Time is running out on all of them. Tripoli will fall soon so will Damascus and Ghom!
Iranians should wise up and take the lead on this historical opportunity and make sure that true Iranians are in the forefront of this movement and not some Chalabi, Alavi or Halabi!

Question 2) I would love to know who in the crowd is also a poster/contributor in IC!
Any guesses, anyone!
