Why Women Have Sex?

Men have sex for only one reason … pleasure. But it seems that women's sexual motivations are vastly complex, with no single reason fully dominating the others.

 A lady friend - let’s call her Sheri jon - is very interested in the complexities of women's sexual motivations. Me on the other hand, not as much fascinated by the motivations, as by the end result.

Sheri jon has studied many studies, to better fathom how women can achieve sexual satisfaction, through a deeper understanding of their own sex drives. Based on five sleepless (and sexless) weeks of research, she has … finally … concluded that:

  1. Altruistic sex (feeling sorry for the guy) seems to be common on first dates.
  2. Revengeful sex (to get back at someone) is behind many unexplained cases.
  3. Palliative sex (e.g. as cure for migraine) is often cited on Sunday mornings.
  4. Confidence building sex (yes, I can do him) targets the alpha-males.
  5. Barter sex (for gifts or advancement) can thrive in some malls and offices.
  6. Jealousy sex (to evoke envy in others) is more common than you think.
  7. Drum roll … drum roll … and the foremost reason why women have sex is for peacekeeping … that is to “keep the peace" at home!

For example, Sheri tells me of her experience when she was 27 and met an older guy. She was not physically attracted to him, nor did she want to be romantically involved. But she felt sorry for the guy, all gray hair and vulnerable. So she decided to get him home, and give him “a break”. As she was undressing, she felt powerful and sexy – and that feeling (not the guy himself) turned her on.

To my question as why she keeps doing it now … Sheri replies that the mystery of why women have sex, and what they want out of it, is an elusive puzzle.  Apparently, Sigmund Freud called it "Ze Great Question". For example, did you know that as many as 50% of women have trouble getting aroused at all?

Thanks god for the other 50%.

I am sorry to see this taken over by "women" vs "men" ***. Sex is not about power; or sympathy or any of the above. Of course Shazdeh has a good sense of humor and that is fine. But I will give the scientific reason.

The real reason is the same for men and women: evolution and reproduction. People who enjoy and love sex reproduce. Those who do not like sex don't reproduce. The more you are into it; the more kids. At least before we had birth control.

Therefore genes for people who like sex got to be passed on. The no sex genes did not. Hence we got a race that mostly loves sex. Of course there are differences all the time. But evolution never stops and routinely selects for sex and fertility. This is not just humans; it runs in all species. 

Sex was very much appreciated and sacred until Judea-Christianity. Ancient Greeks; Celts and Indians celebrated it. Only the joyless "angry God" types hate sex. Rather pretend to hate it and do it behind closed doors. They twisted a beautiful thing into a mockery of what is was meant to be. 

The worst of them were the Shakers who prohibited sex. Guess what happened to that group: pretty much disappeared.

Sex is a normal healthy part of humanity and not a bad thing. Both sexes are able to fully enjoy it. My personal experience requires a deep emotional relation. Without it I get no pleasure. Meaning prostitutes are not for me. Neither are one night stands with strangers. 

I also do not like the idea of "war of sexes". It is very silly and unproductive. I discussed that with my daughter. She told me the same thing. I do not see females as a different "species". My best friend is my daughter. 

PS:

A side bar on homosexuality: Gay people are less likely to reproduce but we have plenty of gays: why?

  • we do not know if homosexuality is genetic. I think it may have a genetic part but not 100% genetic.
  • assuming it is; many people are bi-sexual. I personally know gay people with kids where some of the kids are gay.
  • assuming it is: society pressured gay people to get "married" anyway. It just takes a good try to get a child.

Since we are into reaching definitive and No-need-for-any-proof conclusions and we know for sure that men have sex only to achieve a monumental orgasm, I can assure you that women are only fooling themselves to think that they are faking anything. That is right. 

Women having sex with Machine!! Is only a sign of total insecurity and their various egotistical tendencies.. that is all it comes down to.

It is a good thing that at least you realize some women are actually having sex for the wrong reasons, chief among them being NOT KNOWING WHO THEY ARE!!!

None of your 7 reasons or those offered by others appear to be conducive to producing female orgasm. Is having sex for all the wrong reasons (not like men - for acheiving orgasm) why most women only fake orgasm?

In that case, we should look for the reasons why women have sex with their vibrator, since it seems to be almost the only sex that brings them to a climax every time.

Souri, older women taking on young men is often just to prove to
themselves they're still attractive. Also prostitution has so many
levels it's just incredible. Decades ago I worked in a University
(Workers' Education- Continued Higher Ed) we had some really attractive
female students going for their Master Degree, and doing 'exotic' dance
and ... on the side. Not your average "Sex Worker!"

1) Women sleeping with the very young boys (35 woman with a 22 boy) or (50 woman with a 30 boy) etc...I think this goes to the same category that the young women with the older men.

2) Women who sleep with men only for their money (not the regular whore, of course) but like the ones who become sigheh....etc
