To many Iranians Khomeini was the Zahak, Eblis and Ahriman of our time. Khomeini personified evil and the worse qualities of humanity. In the infamous prison purges of 1988 Khomeini killed up to 4,500 political prisoners without tria. The actual number of political prisoners executed may be actually much higher to mention nothing of the countless arbitrary execututions of ordinary Iranian men and women at the height of the revolution.

According to Amnesty International Report of 9 February 2009

" the past 30 years have been characterised by persistent human rights violations. The multitude of especially severe violations that marked the early years of the Islamic Republic declined over time, but today the human rights situation still remains grim. Hopes for a sustained improvement rose during the period of reform under President Khatami (1997 to 2005), which saw some easing of restrictions on freedom of expression, but have been firmly dashed since the election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2005.

Four years later, ahead of new Presidential elections later this year, impunity, torture and other ill-treatment, as well as the use of the death penalty remain prevalent.

Some sectors of society – including ethnic minorities – continue to face widespread discrimination, while the situation for other groups – notably some religious minorities – has significantly worsened under the current President.

Those seen as dissenting from stated or unstated official policies face severe restrictions on their rights to freedom of belief, expression, association and assembly. Women continue to face discrimination – both in law and practice. Impunity for human rights abuses is widespread."

Khomeini and his minions such as Sadegh Khalkhali established mass murder on an indiustrial scale executing 8 Iranians every hour. If this is not genocide then I do not what is. If the statistics provided by Amensty and other respectable human rights organisations are to believed 192 Iranians are being executed every day, 1344 Iranians every week, 5,376 Iranians per month and 6,4512 Iranains every year. So since the Islamic Republic was established 32 years ago a total of 20,64384 Iranians have been executed. That is more Iranians killed than the Nazi Holocaust, the Turkish-Armenian Genocide and Stalin's murders of WW2 put together.

Like all good Terrorist regimes the Islamic Republic jusifies its executions by saying that it serves as a deterrent and many of those executed are murderers, rapists and armed robbers. Meanwhile the biggest murderers and robbers are in the seat of power in Iran in every government institution from the prisons, the sepah, the Basij, the police, the Majlis, the judiciary, the President and the Spiritual Leader himself. Even if we were to suspend disbelief and accept the Islamic Republic at its word that all those who are executed are bad people who deserve to die the regime does nothing to tacke the evils in Iranian society from mass poverty, unemployment, prostitutuion and drug abuse which are the fruit of Khomeini's legacyand drive Iranians to desperation. For the Iranian young the only salvation is to escape the country as refugees risking life and limb at the hands of unscrpulous people smugglers hidden underneath trucks, in the cargohold of trains and ships leading to tragic consequences such as the Christmas Island disaster in 2010 where 30 people died off the coast of Australia.

But let's credit Khomeini for his greatest achivement. Khomeini was a great Muslim. Khomeini was an honest Muslim. His inspiration to kill Iranian prisoners in the jail purges of 1988 was the visit by the Angel Gabriel to Mohammed who warned him to against the Quraish tribe and killed all its men as as a pre-emptive measure. The lies (Doroughe Maslahlahati), repression of women in law and denial of their civil rights, the persecution of Basijs and Christians, the implementation of Shariah Law for crimes and civil issues, gender segragation and the imposition of the Islamic dress code are all from the very source of evil itself: Islam.

Please leave your insult to Khomeini on this blog. A man whose very existence is an insult to humanity and to the nation of Iran. But always remember that regardless of whatever else you feel about him: He was a Great Muslim!

"A fair comment would be to Curse All the so called Free Democracies...."

No. A fair comment would be to blame (not curse) yourself. And then everybody else.

A bit like a marriage falling apart. Others might've had a hand in it but it's still, first and foremost, your own doing.

I agree with you 100% about the role of the West in grooming Khomeini for power, especially the BBC and French givernment. To think that the Shah paid 22 million dollars on wining and dining these free loaders during the Persepoois celebrations who would then turn on him in such a spiteful fashion is tragic. However, the Iranian people must take responsibiolity for their own stupidity in throwing away a great institution which made enormous concessions and accepting the words of a mullah.

Khomeini is only partly to blame, Truth Requires it to be said

by amirparvizforsecularmonarchy on

To Ignore the Support he received from the worlds FREE Democracies would be totally Dishonest.

To The USA/UK/France/Germany without who's neo-colonialist activities Khomeini would be an impossibility as would maintaining the IRI.

It is this type of Islam that the West wants for Iran, the entire middle east and north Africa.

A fair comment would be to Curse All the so called Free Democracies for their Domination of Iran at the expense of Human Rights.

Disgrace to humanity

I just don't understand how one person can be so cruel and evil. He did not have a shred of decency and compassion in him. Worst, the legacy that he left is still in power and follow his evil ways.

Horrible man, appropriate photo.

Simorgh, I believe IRI has among the highest numbers of executions per capita in the world, no need to add to it.
