This delightful music is by Alireza Assar with my English adaptation of Rumi's poem. I hope you like it.
This originally was made as a gift to a poet friend of mine.
Enjoy

by Soosan Khanoom on Mon Oct 10, 2011 06:31 PM PDTAs you have probably heard , Rumi is number one poet in the U.S today. it is amazing that how people in the west after centuries of rumi's death are now under Rumi's magic spell
Michael Axworthy in his book " Empire of the Mind: A History of Iran " mentions that every hundred years or so, the reading public in the West discovers another of these Persian poets. In 1800s it was Hafez, in 1900s Omar Khayyam, in 2000s it is Rumi.
fantastic all around...

by yolanda on Sun Oct 09, 2011 10:21 AM PDTNice poem and stunning video presentation! Thank you for making the video! I have a feeling that IRI may not like the poem 'cause it mentions drinking and being drunk! Even if being drunk is a metaphor in this poem, IRI still feels that it is unislamic! I was wondering when someone with Rumi's stature will appear in Iran again?
