All Black Everything - Lupe Fiasco (Lyrics On Screen)
I fell asleep and I had a dream, it was all black everything:
You would never know
If you could ever be
If you never try
You would never see
Stayed in Africa
We ain’t never leave
So there were no slaves in our history
Were no slave ships, were no misery, call me crazy, or isn’t he
See I fell asleep and I had a dream, it was all black everything
Uh, and we ain’t get exploited
White man ain’t feared so he did not destroy it
We ain’t work for free, see they had to employ it
Built it up together so we equally appointed
First 400 years, see we actually enjoyed it
Constitution written by the W.E.B. Du Bois
Were no reconstructions, Civil War got avoided
Little black Sambo grows up to be a lawyer
Extra extra on the news stands
Black woman voted head of Ku Klux Klan
Malcolm Little dies as a old man
Martin Luther King read the eulogy for him
Followed by Bill O’Reilly who read from the Quran
President Bush sends condolences from Iran
Where FOX News reports live
That Ahmadinejad wins Mandela peace prize
You would never know
If you could ever be
If you never try
You would never see
Stayed in Africa
We ain’t never leave
So there were no slaves in our history
Were no slave ships, were no misery, call me crazy, or isn’t he
See I fell asleep and I had a dream, it was all black everything
Uh, and it ain’t no projects
Keepin it real is not an understood concept
Yea, complexion’s not a contest
Cause racism has no context
Hip hop ain’t got a section called conscious
Everybody rappin’ like crack never happened
Crips never occurred no Bloods to attack them
Matter of fact no hood to attack in
Somalia is a great place to relax in
Fred Astaire was the first to do a backspin
The Rat Pack was cool group of black men
That inspired five white guys called The Jacksons
Eminem fitted in but then again he inspired a black rapper tryin to mimic him
And that’s what really rose up out of Michigan, the sign of white rapper by the name of 50 Cent, ha!
You would never know
If you could ever be
If you never try
You would never see
Stayed in Africa
We ain’t never leave
So there were no slaves in our history
Were no slave ships, were no misery, call me crazy, or isn’t he
See I fell asleep and I had a dream, it was all black everything
Uh, and I know it’s just a fantasy
I cordially invite you to ask why can’t it be?
Now we can do nothing bout the past
But we can do something about the future that we have
We can make fast or we can make it last
Every woman Queenin’ and every man a Kingin’
When those color lines come we can’t see between
We just close our eyes ’til it’s all black every-THING!
You would never know
If you could ever be
If you never try
You would never see
Stayed in Africa
We ain’t never leave
So there were no slaves in our history
Were no slave ships, were no misery, call me crazy, or isn’t he
See I fell asleep and I had a dream, it was all black everything

Don't forget Soosan Khanoom, this has nothing to do with Persian
by Siavash300 on Thu Apr 07, 2011 05:47 PM PDTJust reminder !..... This is black history in dealing with Europeans. It has nothing to do with Persians. Unlike western history, Iran never had a history of slaverly. Iran is the only county with such an ancient civilalization with no history of slaverly. That is beauty of our history that every Iranians should be proud of. Therefore, Iranians don't have guilty conscious like Europeans do. "Guilt" is strong feeling. Much more stronger than hate or love or rage. on the other hand, we also don't have Nokari or inferiority feeling as slaves had. We have rich history of Shahanshi and it is our duty to follow that path as was the wishes of our ancestors.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Apr 06, 2011 11:40 PM PDTGenes remain the same for your whole life in theory. However some viruses insert their DNA in genes thus changing the actual code. Hence these are so hard to cure. The modified cells often do not express the viral genes.
Therefore you need a way to "hunt" down the modified genes and desteroy them. Ouch! I am a racist against virus :-) There are treatements developed that force the infected cells to express the genes. That allows the body to identify and destory them. The down side is that you may loosen the hoards of infected cells on the body. So you want to first have sufficent body defences prepared *before* turning on the genes. Anyway I don't want to turn this into a lesson on genes.
You made me laugh
by Rea on Wed Apr 06, 2011 05:51 PM PDTDon't ask me why, dunnow ;o)
Slightly racist, not denying. But fighting my prejudices, trying my best.
PS. if there is One above, hope he'll appreciate my being honest. ;o)
PSS. come to think of it, maybe my racism comes from my 2 yrs in the Caribbeans. Gosh, they are racists, I can tell you !

by Soosan Khanoom on Wed Apr 06, 2011 12:20 PM PDTThere are discriminations based on age but we all age , white or black .... I do not understand the argument.... am I missing something here?
We, however, can discuss the Gene and Race instead .....
The DNA of any two people is at least 99 percent identical. Having said that there are small changes in DNA that for example account for the pale skin of Europeans or west Africans resistance to certain diseases or Jews that are offered prenatal tests for genetic disorders rarely found in other ethnic groups....... but these are very superficial and of no importance ...... It is obvious and so clear that the economic, social , and educational differences have so much more influence on the racial issues than genes. These factors exit because society treats certain race as the inferior and then discriminate against it ......
Bottom line Race is skin deep and we are all fundamentally equal.
PS... by the way , I am not much in my biologist mood today : )
This can be done by SK.
by comments on Wed Apr 06, 2011 10:28 AM PDTIt is nice to be educated by a biologist in the gene/age and discrimination related subject a few sentences.
Gene vs. age.
by comments on Wed Apr 06, 2011 10:20 AM PDTThere are many candidate genes representing different ages. For example, rectal cancer sharply increases when men become 40 or higher, which relates to genetic variations. All diseases which are age oriented such as Parkinson's are related to gene variations. This is the reason that genes, proteins, RNAs are correlated to discover the reason for a disease. I am not sure, but I don't think if the individual's genetic signature (genomics) of 10 years old boy is the same as when he becomes 70 years old.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Wed Apr 06, 2011 09:24 AM PDTWell age is not a genetic difference. However I stick to my definition: racism means picking one race over another. It does not mean hating anyone. The politically correct have hijacked the word.
What bugs me is this knee jerk reaction. If you criticize Islam; or show national pride you get called a racist. That is why the word has lost its meaning and its impact. I just roll my eyes when some says racist.

by comments on Wed Apr 06, 2011 09:01 AM PDTI believe there is only one definition for rasicm. You can critisize people, but not because of their genetic differences such as their color or age. Since people with the same color usually live in the same country/region so rasicm also refers to people's ethnicity, or nationality. I think we live in a world that the use of word and sentence structure makes the difference. I agree with you that we can't shut up because of toooo sensitivity. I also believe that hurting people is not right and the majority of people don't have any roles in their government decision.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Tue Apr 05, 2011 08:56 PM PDTI do not see many "Aryan" worshippers on IC. I do see many Aryan haters however; that is racism. Most Nationalist posters do not even mention Aryan. That word is used for most part by either separetists or anti Nationalists.
They want to glue "Aryan" in a transparent attempt to associate it with Nazi. It is not going to work. The rest of us know that Iranian Nationalism has nothing to do with Aryan. In fact Khashayar married a Jew named Esther and made her Queen of Iran.
You just do not like Nationalists so you try to portray them in a bad light. Beleive me it is very obvious. If you want a world government good luck. It will not happen.

Re: Racism and Nationalisim
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Tue Apr 05, 2011 08:39 PM PDTPlease be clear whether you are saying Nationalism is racism? If so I disagree since many nations like Iran; India and America are multiracial. Nationalism applies to all for example Colin Powel is as nationalist as Arnold :-)
Racism is putting one race above others. It is not hating other races. It is simply putting one above others. Many slave owners did not hate their slaves; while others did. They just wanted free labor and justified it by saying they were superior.
Now you are saying that *any* sort of Nationalism may drop us into trap of hatred. So do you propose we abandon NowRuz and our history? Or give up our language as to avoid trap of "hatred".
It was tried by IR and failed. The IR sent me a NowRuz card this year. It was written in pretty good Farsi. It could have been written by a "Nationalist" regime. I saw no hate in it. Just wishing me a happy NowRuz and a nice gesture.
Whether you like it or not Iranian people are Nationalists. This is rooted deeper than Islam and has a 3000+ year long history. It is not going to be going away. I find your claim of Nationalism leading to hatred misguided. What do you propose? A world government? It is not going to happen. A Khalifat of all Muslims? Good luck they are too busy having revolutions and fighting for that to happen. Besides there is no way IR will accept that unless it is the undisputed boss.

Racism and Nationalisim
by Soosan Khanoom on Tue Apr 05, 2011 07:44 PM PDTRacism is about Hate. It is hatred or intolerance of another race or other races...... When you strongly see someone being different from your own self......... this Insecurity from the other creates fear. This fear can be exploited by the politicians, by the clergies, by the media or simply by any individual. One can come up with beautiful concepts such as Nationalism, National Flag, National Symbols, Religious Symbols..... just anything that will help like minded individuals to Group together against another race.........Now this fear needs a constant fuel.... If a real threat does not exists, then you create an imaginary one.
So I think whether we associate ourselves with negative aspects of an Identity such as racism or we reject racism but associate ourselves with identity’s positive aspects such as celebrating national holidays, associating with nationalism etc – both are two sides of the same coin. In either case, our potential to fall in the trap of hatred – today or in future, stays intact. .......
Please define racism
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Tue Apr 05, 2011 06:48 PM PDTI am always hearing "racism" from various people. But what is racism? At this rate everyone is both a racist and a victim.
Muslims call anyone who opposes them racist. Not worrying that Islam is not a race. Liberals call conservatives racist because they oppose minority set asides. The conservatives return the favor and say Liberals are for racial quotas.
In the war with Iran all the Arabs except for Syria sided with Saddam. The Palestinians in particular. Are they racist because they put their race above support IR gave them.
Of course every IR supporter says Iranians are racist. Why: because they do not want to be assimilated into the greater Islamic nation.
Blacks radicals say whites are racist becuase of the history of discrimination. White radicals say NAACP is racist because it promotes good of blacks.
God forbid if there was a NAAWP (replace colored by white). Then everyone would say they are racist.
Half the people on IC say Jews are racist. Because they say they are the God's chosen people.
I put my family first then I must be a racist! After all my family happens to be of my race. No matter that my greater family includes: Iranian; Chinese; Korean; German; Jewish; Arab and American.
The charge has lost its meaning because of over use. Because it is now "hip" to call anyone you do not like a racist. Most people crying racism have either never or rarely been subjected to it.

The song is so beautiful.
I don't like to contribute in racism comments in this website. When I participate I feel cheap like participating in Google or Yahoo discussion comments by ordinary people. Iranians in IC are selected Iranians, and they don't represent Iranians in Iran. So it's so sad to see such a small selected group encourage racism and have no respect to support basic values.
