Greenwald has an excellent article about how this is implausible. Some have mention it below. He has many links. I went and click on every link to go to the original source. It is a solid argument.

If you don't like Greewald there is also the Guardian to guide you through their own arguments.

Also I found this little article quite interesting:
"Are we ready to believe that the cold and calculating people who govern Iran were contracting out assassination plots with Mexican drug traffickers or that they would pick Washington as the best place to attack the Saudi ambassador (knowing that being found responsible for bombing Washington would mean war with the United States)? As Seth Meyers likes to say on Saturday Night Live, "Really? Really?"
Iran Plot: Here We Go Again
Anyway ... here are some comments I found online
- We spend hundreds of billions a year on our intelligence and security services, and this is the best story they can come up with? At least say Iran had hired little green men to assassin the other moslem ambassador; then so many area 51 fanatics would have bought it and it would have gone viral on Facebook. Not the boring story of Iran hired some use car sales man to do it. If that's the best they can do, then our country is really in trouble. And I thought the economy is in trouble; it seems our intelligence service needs more help than the economy.

- Greetings:
This is the Secretary of War at the State Department
of the United States
We have a problem.
The companies want something done about this sluggish
world economic situation
Profits have been running a little thin lately
and we need to stimulate some growth
Now we know
there's an alarmingly high number of young people roaming
around in your country with nothing to do but stir up trouble
for the police and damage private property.
It doesn't look like they'll ever get a job
It's about time we did something constructive with these people
We've got thousands of 'em here too. They're crawling all over
The companies think it's time we all sit down, have a serious get-together-
And start another war. "Kinky Sex Makes the World Go Round"

- Could be that some powerful group would like to have the US invade Iran.
>>>>>>>>>
- FBI could have rolled this out on the day that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave his speech at the UN (which the Americans walked out of) for maximum impact.
As for Holder, the man who WOULD NOT prosecute the 2008 Crimes of Wall Street, he should be talking to his lawyer and trying to develop evasion tactics to that subpoena coming his way.
Now Hollywood will take a run at this and have a movie readied by the Xmas holiday season. Maybe Arnold can play the lead role for the FBI and Antonio Banderas can play the FBI informant infiltrating the Mexican drug cartels.

- Have we not stolen enough oil yet?

- wag the dog you sob!

- plot smacks of behind-the-scenes CIA/Saudi shenanigans, with White House approval, not just to distract from nationwide protests, but to deflect attention away from a national malaise that shows no signs of lifting. When in doubt, time for the old stand-by in the faux-intelligence holster: the WAR ON TERROR. (*yawn*)
Sorry, Barack, we are not buying it, as no one abroad could terrorize Americans like they are being terrorized at home, both economically and environmentally. We ain't buying this one.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
- This is the US Government's "Little Boy Who Cried Iran!" moment.
Your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to login everywhere this pathetic hoax is published and comment "BULL BISCUITS!" or other similar observation. This is a desperate attempt to hand the media something to report on that is not the Occupy movement.
>>>>>>>>>
- OK, drag the Mexicans into this mess, after all Mexicans and Iranian look alike, don't they? I mean look at my profile pic, put a rag on my head, BAAMM, instant terrorist!!
>>>>>>>>>
- IRAN is a WORLD HERITAGE site any attack on IRAN is tantamount to destroying WORLD CULTURE....after all the GARDEN of EDEN is in IRAN.....would you destroy GOD"S GARDEN ....think about it and you understand the Luciferian powers that seek to trick more Americans, like at 9/11, again
>>>>>>>>>
- I can't believe this message board. This was a great achievement by our intelligence agency yet somehow all I see is petty political name calling from both sides. The government finally did something right. Lets celebrate and congratulate them.

Well... we can be here to just be here
by Soosan Khanoom on Thu Oct 13, 2011 09:24 PM PDTBut you know ... No one really reads IC's comments section. Readers usually take a look at the articles, poems, blogs, etc but they never bother to read the comments .... I am sure of that cause if they have been reading the comments they would be commenting as well, you know how Iranians are ... they have to say something ...
Somehow a few of us got into this vortex but there are not that many frequent commentators anyway...
I used to be an IC visitor but I hardly ever read the comments until I posted some stuff and others commented on that and I started this commenting business of mine ...
Many times I have been discouraged by all the accusations and wanted to leave for good but a few people including you have kept me going..
So this place is not that bad after all especially if we all can get along with each other and agree to disagree without accusations and name callings.
lol....
by Disenchanted on Thu Oct 13, 2011 08:40 PM PDTI agree Simorg007 shows signs of civility at times. He is a bit mature in debate though not in his views as clear by his pseudo mini blog today :-)
They (multiplicity included) have a similar profile. They seem to know a thing or two about science, ceratinly a bias toward defending Israel and pretty naive when it comes to how things works in Iran if not the world. Lets hope they'll read our blogs more closely and catch up. What else we are here for SK jaan?! :-)
I agree but with one exception
by Soosan Khanoom on Thu Oct 13, 2011 08:38 PM PDTSimorg, I believe, has only one iD and he is actually one of my favorite opponents on this site, he has proven to me that he can debate things with me in a very democratic manner ... basically we have agreed to disagree without any name callings, harassing and flagging. I hope that he will prove me right once it comes to you as well. by the way, I do not think so he buys into this plot either.
Others, however, are totally different characters who are more into this selling and buying affair.. . I just prefer to take the 5th on them . I have been flagged enough already and if they were in power, for sure, they would be flogging me too ...LOL
but the only people who sell this
by Soosan Khanoom on Thu Oct 13, 2011 07:46 PM PDTbut the only people who sell this and buy it at the same time are our very own pro-isreali commentaters on this site ..
lol
Disenchanted jan, Fox news can not sell it either
by Soosan Khanoom on Thu Oct 13, 2011 07:45 PM PDT" Just look at the guy's picture. All he needs is a rubber nose and some clown shoes to join the circus. There is no conceivable way that this bozo is is an Iranian James bond... "
well that's a comment from the internet but whoever made it was right on the points
: )
Sounds like Sopranos scripts...
by Disenchanted on Thu Oct 13, 2011 07:38 PM PDTI think even FOX news have a hard time buying this!
Dear Bavafa
by Soosan Khanoom on Thu Oct 13, 2011 07:32 PM PDTThe entire plot is like the SNL sketch .... It is just too funny ...
a car salesman from Iran to hire a hit squad from Mexico to get a Saudi.... not to mention the "Chevrolet is ready" lol
These people gotta come up with better fear tactics than this!
I am going to withhold judgement on this...
by Bavafa on Thu Oct 13, 2011 11:54 AM PDTAs I believe both sides are capable of lies and deceit.
But we also ought not to forget that in a number of cases, US and its allies were found to be wrong when it came to these type of dispute. When British sailors were found in Iranian water, they steadfastly claimed abduction of the sailors and that they were in international water. Then all the claims of torture and humiliation when IRI produced comfy rooms with ping pong table for fun. Or when the American hikers were arrested, we heard all claims of otherwise, just to find out that they were actually within Iranian borders.

It looks like many people indeed are doubting this story
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Oct 13, 2011 10:23 AM PDTInitially I thought why not. Iran does all kinds of crimes, why not this one? but now this thing about "Eric Hlder" and the timing of it. Two major issues already against him, Fast and Furious and not prosecuting Wall Street. If it turns out that he cooked up this Iran story or that there was any wrongdoing on his part, this might become the final straw against him.
Nice catch dear Anahid ...
by Soosan Khanoom on Thu Oct 13, 2011 10:22 AM PDTThanks for the article. When I was going through the online comments I realized that most of them were revolving around the words " Fast and Furious" which is also mentioned in the link you provided ....
In addition to that, Holder, is under tremendous criticism not only by the American people whom hold him responsible for not prosecuting the Wall street thieves but also by the Amnistey international concerning GW's war crimes. ...
I guess American people can not trust this guy anyway...
The public here in the U.S are as much tired of their authorities lies and politics as the Iranian people . Having said that people in the U.S, at least, are enjoying their civil freedoms, something that the Iranian people have never had and will never going to enjoy under IRI and here lies the big difference.
Anyway, this uncovered Iranian plot is funny and everyone is laughing. It is the comedy version of the cold war that was going on with the Russians...
Soosan Khanoom, I was doubting the doubters until
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Oct 13, 2011 09:25 AM PDTI saw this article about "Eric Holder" in Huffington:
//www.huffingtonpost.com/adam-winkler/did-attorney-general-hold_b_1007235.html
which makes me now think that if "Eric Holder" might have lied in one case, then it is probable that he would do it more. Is this what you are referring to where you write:"
As for Holder, the man who WOULD NOT prosecute the 2008 Crimes of Wall Street, he should be talking to his lawyer and trying to develop evasion tactics to that subpoena coming his way. "
Actually above quote, I am not sure you wrote it or you saw it online but anyway, it looks like Holder is in troule for another matter which puts this one under a new light.
" Commentators on the BBC
by Soosan Khanoom on Wed Oct 12, 2011 11:55 PM PDT" Commentators on the BBC today were open expressing doubt about the credibility of these claims. Meanwhile, on NBC, CBS and ABC I got to see real live testimony in the Conrad Murray trial. "
