First time I heard their music, I was surprised how the IRI allow them to perform in Iran. Their concerts indeed, were very successful in Tehran.

But now, I heard that they are banned in Iran and can't play anymore !

Apparentlynot every song they sing is from Molana. Some are from Khayaam. Recently all their CD's are banned in Iran because of the poems, Homaey, has said by hisself. I posted here the exact lyric of that video of "Douzakhian"...and also a few lines below :

As I have been told, they were banned only because of their choice of pomes and the lyric of the songs. It came too odd with the religious and Islamist trend of the government. I send an email to my source, to get more info about that. I will let you posted if I get anything new my dear.
Douzakhian concert consist of 17 parts, which i had posted 3 for you.
Here we have only #1 and #17, but I had choose also # 3 for you, as my
favorite. Of course, you can listen to all of them on youtube. I really
like them., never been in their concert, maybe soon :O)

Thanks for sharing Mastan's music with us. I am so sorry to have missed their concert in the Bay Area which took place earlier this year when I was travelling.

Those who did go to the concert were really touched by Mr. Homay's music. I wonder why they would be banned in Iran? I mean they don't have female band members, and their lyrics seem to be the poems of Molana and other Persian poets. Lyrics and female voices are usually two reasons such a group might get into trouble. Of course, there could be all kinds of other problems with licenses "mojavvez" to perform and to produce CD's. One thing I have learned is that in most cases, this "mojavvez" business is a seasonal thing; except for some people who were seriously and permanently barred from performing and producing works, such as Fereidoon Foroughi, everyone else seems to be banned for a while and then permitted for a while, and so forth. This is such a shame as it interrupts artistic creation and the very livelihoods of those artists.

Mastan are an excellent young ensemble and I wish them all the luck with their future work. Thanks for sharing Souri Jan.
